We have been getting a lot of questions about why people should volunteer with Feel Good Foods vs going with CROO. I wanted to go over some basic details to help people make a decision that works best for them.
1. We require 22 hours of volunteer time for your ticket. CROO asks for 18 - 24 hours depending on what you job is 2. We will feed you the entire time you are on-site. If you work in catering, you eat with the crew. We also have two concession spots that crew members can eat at anytime throughout the weekend for free. 3. CROO gives you a single $7 meal token for each shift. For most of you that will mean 3 tokens ($18) for the entire weekend. 4. You have unlimited access to beverages from our concession stands 5. We do not give you a T-shirt. You can wear an apron while working though. 6. Our crew is only around 70 people total between catering and concessions. You will have a more intimate experience with Feel Good Foods 7. CROO has a much wider variety of things to volunteer for. We only have kitchen spots. If you want to do other things, CROO is your best bet. 8. We will schedule your shifts and provide you with what you will be doing before you pay your deposit. 9. You have the possibility of getting extra paid work with Feel Good Foods if we are short handed. I honestly don't know if such a thing exists with CROO. 10. We require all of our pre-show staff to arrive on Monday. The during show volunteers are required to arrive by Wednesday at noon. Post show volunteers can show up whenever they want. 11. Deposits... Upon receiving your contract from Feel Good Foods you are asked to pay 25% of your deposit within 14 days. The remaining balance is due by May 1st. If you need to cancel before May 1st, we will return your deposit. After May 1st, your initial 25% deposit will not be returned. 12. Single deposit for multiple festivals. If you do more than one event with us we only charge a single deposit. With that said though, if you flake on the first of three events, you forfeit your deposit and do not get to go to any of the events.
Well, I hope this clarifies a few things for everybody. We are still looking for a handful of more people for this year's Roo and numerous other events. Please check out our website www.feelgoodfoodswnc.com from there click on festival services and then click on volunteer programs in the middle of the screen.
If you have any questions, please try to ask them here on the forum so I can hopefully answer the question for others that might have the same question.

The deposit is equal to the approximate face value of a ticket. We have to do this because we are giving a ticket to someone we do not know on the premise that they will show up and do the work they agreed to. Over the years we have been burnt around 75% of the time that we did not get a deposit. If somebody coughs up the dough they are pretty much committed to doing it. You still get the people that end up losing their mind and disappearing for a couple days but they usually find their way back to reality and redeem themselves.

I think I'll chime in here. I have done 5 'roos with FGF and it often ends up being my favorite part of the fest because i'm constantly laughing. I think CROO is a sucker bet compared to FGF. Here's a few other things they didn't mention.. 13. You can camp in Vendor Camping. It is closer to centeroo than volunteer camping, there are shuttles you can ride, there are showers, and it is fenced/guarded so your stuff isnt going to get stolen. Prefer to camp somewhere else? No one's stopping you... 14. You have a place you can leave stuff in Centeroo so you dont have to schlep it back and forth from your campsite. 15. You will have a vendor wristband. This is a very nice thing that shouldn't be abused. Two things this gets you is special entrances into centeroo with no lines and clean crappers in centeroo, also no lines. People will also take you seriously if you sport one of these. 16. These guys are vets and know this place in and out. Anything you want to know about roo the can tell you. The proper way to ask is while you work, not by calling before the event. They know all. 17. Mark is funny, Amy is sweet, and Marcus is hairy with no standards. Truely something for everyone here...
You're gonna miss me out there this year. We should talk about Floyd soon.
If I hadn't already bought a ticket I would totally volunteer. In fact I wish I thought about this before since my background is in event management and my degree is in hospitality management. Next year?
