Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
In the 9 times I've seen him, he's always stretched out and jammed on a bunch of his songs. That Continuum album has a ton of great guitar songs on it.
See Mayer is really someone I've only listened to "on tape". Yeah I saw him at the crossroads, but that was back in 07...a little fuzzy. I will have to check that album out. I'm always down for some guitar.
Boom, here we go. If you're wanting to get into Mayer, this is the concert. He opens with a couple acoustic songs, then blasts out the speakers with the John Mayer Trio (33:30), then brings out his actual band (1hr:26)for his album songs which -- like Kev-Bot says -- get jammed out.
If you've got two hours to play it in the background/hook it up to the TV, give it a shot.

Just got in to work, I got 8 hours. Will be checking this out.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

John Mayer??Mar 29, 2013 12:35:00 GMT -5via mobile
Me too, especially if he's in a Superjam as well - as I imagine he would be, because he seems to love showing off his (admittedly impressive) guitar work.

It would be a great show, he could have some guests to bring out, and it would draw a pretty good crowd. He could do a mid-day What slot with 50,000 easily showing up. Toss him in a superjam for good times sake as well.
John Mayer is a much more talented player than Gary Clark.
Agreed. GCJ's got a much better tone though in my opinion; it's much more gritty and raw. Mayer's work is undoubtedly more technically advanced, but it seems to lack the power that GCJ has.

Depending on which song he's playing, Mayer is basically just duplicating SRV, Clapton, or Jeff Beck's tone. I think when it comes to skill, there is a very short list of guitarists who are ok Mayer's level, but GCJ's tone is in a class of it's own.
Oh and here's what a John Mayer set currently looks and sounds like (very different than pre-granuloma treatment). I think his shows are more fitting for Bonnaroo now than they've ever been before
