I would do dirty disgusting things to see John Mayer at Bonnaroo. It's a must see show, you're going to get his poppy songs but the majority of his show is his blues/jam stuff and he shreds.
I'd say it's unlikely he'd be a headliner. Last time he was there as part of Herbie Hancock's band in the middle of the day on Which and I doubt his stock has risen much since then. Either a Which closer or a What Preheadliner. Either way, I suspect it's unlikely that he'll be back but the more the merrier...

I'm kind of interested to see what his new setlist is like with Born and Raised. He's said in interviews he's excited to extend those songs into 8, 9, 10 minute jams, so maybe he'll leave a lot of the pop hits at home (not all but quite a few).
If John Mayer were added to the lineup, I would be the happiest person with soiled underwear in my office. Sadly, I don't think that's going to happen though. =(

Not a big fan of his studio albums, AT ALL. That said, dude killed it at the '07 Crossroads Guitar Festival. 100% turn around from the albums. Much more blusey jazz than the light rock I've heard.
I do agree he does shred, I have seen the crossroads 07 . I just cannot get over his vacuous pop music. It won't allow me to admit that I like him. Maybe I am missing out but ce la vie. One less conflict at bonnaroo is a good thing.

Another thing, at the crossroads he may have just been putting on a different show to keep up with all the other blues guys on stage. I get the feeling in a regular show you would see a lot more poppy music.

In the 9 times I've seen him, he's always stretched out and jammed on a bunch of his songs. That Continuum album has a ton of great guitar songs on it.

See Mayer is really someone I've only listened to "on tape". Yeah I saw him at the crossroads, but that was back in 07...a little fuzzy. I will have to check that album out. I'm always down for some guitar.
