I went to this last year and had fun. They did have kinks their first year(vendors running out of food and beer) but I am going to give Superfly a learning curve on this. The festivals takes place at Prospect Park in Brooklyn, Although there is music, food, beer, and wine are their main focus. The first day you have to pay to get in, but the 2nd and third day is free as long you sign up for a free ticket.

The other thing you should know is that you can only get a ticket for free for just Saturday or Sunday, not both. I did just read that if you buy a ticket for Friday's kick-off party that you will receive a pass for either Sat or Sunday. I also thought a way of beating the system if you want to get in for all three days and that would be buy the ticket for Friday and then getting your free ticket for one of the days. If you volunteer you can get in for the third day.
The free ticket thing on either Saturday or Sunday is weird. Why do you think they do that?
This is basically a big advertisement for all the food places. They just happen to also have music there. By getting different people they increase the potential amount of people that will like the food and go to the actual restaurant/place they are sold.
At least that's one reason I came up with. Last year I got a pass and my friend got a pass. I think they came with two tickets so we just each shared our day.
So you DO think it's worth it? My good friends who live in Brooklyn said it was only ok- mostly they were pissed off about the lines and all the food running out. I suppose if they fixed those (certainly possible), then it might be worth it... I'll also be in Boston the next weekend for Boston Calling, so two weekends off from work in a row would be rough on the wallet...

I had a great time for free.
The lines were super long by the middle/end of the festival but not all of the lines were that bad. We ate early so didn't wait very long for food....it was the VIP section that ran out of a lot I believe. The two stages are relatively close and they had a bunch of types of beer to buy.
It's pretty cool but nothing mindblowing. If you like the bands on the lineup it's def worth it just to see them at a free show.
