Share your thoughts with me on how Bonnaroo can improve on fan interaction via Social Media and online activity during the course of the festival. What have you liked in years past, what would you improve on or do differently, and do you have an cool ideas on this subject for Bonnaroo 2013 and beyond? We are developing strategies for our on-site coverage and the Inforoo opinion counts! Let your voices be heard and maybe your ideas will be implemented this coming June!
Social Media interaction during the course of the festival is very tough considering the cell signal on the farm is pretty bad, and most people's phones are dead by Saturday.

Use specific hashtags for important news/announcements. Like #RooNews or some junk like that. That way they can be filtered out of other promotional tweets.

Cell phone recharging stations are a must. It would be kinda cool to have someone with a camera at some of the stations/tents/promo areas that would take a photo of you and your friends and upload it to bonnaroo's facebook and I believe more of my friends would be more inclined to come if they saw photos here and there, real time, through out the weekend, rather than a huge album of them once I returned home.

I agree that the interaction would be much better with improvedphone service. Of my last 5Roos I have had 1 year that I had decent service if any (2009) I love to share tons short videos of my time on the farm through various outlets and thats only possible if I can get a signal. Even the wifi spots are usually overloaded and slow. Its promotional as I tell everyone I meet that Bonnaroo is the greatest place in Earth and I want them to be able to see why. I have drewn many people in to becoming Bonnaroovians this way See what you can do about that and many more people will be very happy.

People definatly would love to see more video and pictures during prep and set up before Bonnaroo as it really hightens the excitment dramatically and creates a lot of buzz!

I think it would be cool to have cell phone charging at each of the pods in the campgrounds. People would be way more inclined to stop by and check the pods/art out and there could be a social media aspect figured in too!

I like that pod idea but how about tweeting a hashtag of what pod you are in to report all the awesome pod parties that go down! Theres never been a way (aside from walking around and looking for them) to seek out the really good campground parties. This could make for some epicness late night!

The more emphasis you put on social media interaction during the festival, the more cell coverage and battery life you need.
Bonnaroo needs to focus on bringing in cell tower trucks, and offer more sponsors with cell charging stations (other than just the ONE at the Fuse tent that has a 2hr wait, AND they leave your phone out in the sun so it never actually charges).

And I still think the idea of having charging stations at the pod installations in the campgrounds would be cool. I know I never stop by them, but I would hit it up if I could charge my phone near my campsite! Coachella has cell phone charging stations in their campground and each morning there are people flocking around them and extension cords dangling every which way. It's sooooooo very handy.

Yup, if you leave a phone out in direct sunlight it will become very hot, especially when being charged and will not keep a charge. The battery gets too hot.

That is the crux of the matter. If they do not address both issues I really don't see the point of sending out tweets of special events and what not. But really The last thing I want to be worried about is checking my phone in the middle of a smoking set. They should send out tweets and stuff at scheduled times in the morning when everyone is sleeping so we all get the tweet or what not.

More news and video about artists and the festival grounds and vendors and less (or at least better) attendee generated content. This seems to be what Bonnaroo has been doing the past few weeks, so keep up the good work. There are only so many "look at this whacky hippie" pictures I can tolerate.

I always set Bonnaroo's tweets to be texted to me during the fest. I assume if everyone did this it would use less data? If so Bonnaroo should get the word out about that.
Maybe I'm more old school than most but I don't want to have to worry about checking my phone constantly when I'm on the farm. Unless major upgrades are made there is no way the currently signals can accommodate everyone anyway. Last year My husband sent multiple text messages to me and they all arrived at the same time, which was kind of funny but not particularly helpful. If it needs to be sent send it late at night/early morning when the traffic is lower.
And the Facebook "Check-In" booths at the tents were cool, but only during the smaller sets. Anytime it was a popular act, it was WAY too packed to get anywhere close to that thing. Back them up further outside the tents, kind of like the ones for Which/What Stage are in the breezeways between the stages.

Screens at the tents, that when not in use for the show, have running updates showing what is going on and where. You have to have something that keeps us up to date besides the cell phone. Those MF'ers are hell to keep charged out there.
And yes, crazykittensmile, the sun is a killer for charging the phone and keeping it charged.
