So I'm sitting here, buying stuff on Amazon, and random other websites, and I'm looking at my Durango and I'm becoming obsessive about how to pack it all. please tell me I am not the only one with anxiety about this I mean heck I've got 6 weeks but I already want to pack up and do a trial run to make sure EVERYTHING fits and that everything works....EEEEP
Just from personal experience, you are going to experience days when time will fly and days when it will drag, all while obsessing over Bonnaroo. And the addiction gets worse the more times you go. Sorry that this does not help, but I always thought it was better to rip the bandaid off instead of going slow.
After last year I decided to get a couple crates to hold all of my camping gear. Now everything I normally bring is basically packed already. My stuff is less scattered, therefore my brain is in way less of a panic. haha
I don't even think there is anything i need to add to my gear list this time around.
That was the good thing about deciding to go relatively late last year (mid-May when I jumped into planning with bogart and our friend). Even though I began obsessing over it then, which is when I found Inforoo, but I kinda had to because I hadn't planned anything to that point.
This year has been different though. Decided we'd be going back relatively soon after leaving. Started sharing ideas for the past 10 months, finally joined the board in January...so yea...the obsession only seems to get worse.
I've found a few ways to pass them time but keep my excitement for Bonnaroo.
1) Binge on an artist I've never heard of or listened to in the lineup. I find 5-10 bands every year that I still listen to today. Seriously, I never know more than 2/3 of the lineup that comes out, and I usually like almost all of it by the days leading up to the festival.
2) Get active in the Inforoo community. Like minded people who often have something smart or funny to contribute? Yes please. There are literally threads for every single thing you could want to know about Bonnaroo here.
3) I like making mock schedules if I have nothing to do at work. Now I haven't quite finished one yet this year because we keep getting confirmations on days for other artists. It's a fun little puzzle, and it prepares you for those dreaded conflicts.
4) I actually go camping a few weekends prior to Roo to make sure everything is still working. Just one night, but it's nice to learn if your tent got torn during take down last year and you failed to notice.
I feel so bad sometimes, the way i talk about Bonnaroo to my friends. Like every conversation i feel i bring it up at least once. Whether it is discussing upcoming plans or what happened at last years.

This is so me, I know it has got to get annoying but I can't help myself

I too do that same thing. I also try to talk people into going.

Common daily rooisms "Oh yeah man, that's kinda like last year at Bonnaroo when......" "I did the same thing a couple years ago at Bonnaroo...." "this tastes a lot like this stuff I had a Bonnaroo...."
so when we all meet at Bonnaroo, we all gonna be like "omg I remember that time at, here"
I am also obsessing! I have already packed the totes with all of our gear and I feel like every day I think of something or see something else I want to bring. And every time I hear a song by one of this year's artists I get even more excited, knowing I will be seeing them soon! Hopefully I will make it to all of my favorites anyway (Possible conflict anxiety has already set in) I am also planning a trip to Costa Rica and at this point I am probably more excited about Roo!
I've given up tryin' to convince friends to come at this point. All of them know where I'll be in mid June and they know how much of a blast I'll be havin'. If they wanna join the more the merrier.
You should be fine in your Durango. My friend and I went to Wakarusa and Bonnaroo last year, back to back, in a Ford Taurus. We packed it no less than four times and took pictures so we could remember how we got our stuff in there. I think with only three months to go, your concerns are legit. You seem right on track with your obsession Once the rumblings of lineup rumors start, I'm worthless to my friends and family who do not go to festivals. My brain goes into festival mode around January, and all I can think about is my pile list and how much fun the summer is going to be and how much fun last summer was. But I start getting back to normal right after Christmas. Nobody (especially my non-festivaling husband) cares about how long it takes to freeze water or who I really, really hope plays at such and such festival or how a $300 hula hoop IS camping equipment and also an investment. I've also quit trying to talk friends and family into going with me. I figure if their eyes glaze over after I've mentioned Bonnaroo or Waka or any festival less than 300 times, I don't want to be responsible for their good time. If they don't seem like they could live as a homeless person and be happy about it, I don't want to camp with them. If they need to shower every day and immediately wash off dirt, we're not going to be good roo mates. I'll just keep on talking and they'll just keep on pretending to listen until I can get in my packed to the roof Taurus and go have some fun without them!
You'll definitely be fine in your Durango! The last two years my friend and I went to Roo in her scion xd and we made out just fine! This year we have another friend coming with us so we'll have to figure out how to pack the car a little differently. If youre buying a lot of new things, take them out of the packaging boxes and new packaging take up a lot of extra space!
I can see how I'm not the only one who is so obsessive about this. It's seriously all I think and talk about all day every day.

I'm doing pretty well about staying focused this year--probably because work has been so busy. But man I dread the Bonnaroo-induced ennui that will hit in the second half of May. I can't find the will to care about ANYTHING when I know Bonnaroo is right around the corner.
My obsession is pretty bad and my friends know it. But it gets really bad when I drink and I talk about it with friends who haven't gone. They hattttte it lol.
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.
My Family, Close friends and co-Workers know that I am already in "full on - Bonnaroo Mode" and that every other word out of my mouth is "BONNAROO" or about "Bonnaroo. I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about things I have to make sure I bring with me or when I'm going to make my way over to the What Stage for McCartney etc. . This will be my 4th 'Roo so I have lists from previous years and really dont need to worry but that doesn't stop my mind from thinking about it all the time.
You will probably overpack your first time. Just sayin...
I dunno, other than food my group way under packed our first year. We only had two tarps to attempt to make shade between our two cars fer shade. It was largely unsuccessful.
All the skeptical looks you get from your friends for your excitement over Boneroo < All the knowing looks you get from strangers you meet who have been there
I am obsessing a little too, not about the way down but the way back. After Roo we are going to Atlanta to stay with my sister for a week, then heading back to WI. We are bringing my niece back home with us for a month, so I need to make sure I have enough room for another person and their luggage. May need to leave a few things in Atlanta. And most of my friends/family are over my talking about Roo, but this will be my first year and my daughter and I are super excited!

True on tarps...I mean like clothes, food, stuff you will never use. I cut down my stash by at least half the second time I went and 1/3 of that was gone by next year.

This was very true for me as well. I brought so much food and just other things that I never even ended up using. It's like I thought I was going to be at my camp all day. Well, lesson learned and I pack much lighter now!
