General Info Members/Biography:Ben Schneider was is an artist that dabbled in both art and music before Lord Huron. In June 2010 Ben Schneider released an EP called 'Into the Sun EP'. This got some attention online and in November 2010 released 'Mighty EP' and the song 'The Stranger' got a lot more attention. Ben made these EPs by himself. After this Ben went back to California and rounded up some musical mates and they started Lord Huron. Mark Barry (percussion, vocals), Miguel Briseno (bass, percussion), Brett Farkas (guitar, vocals) and Tom Renaud (guitar, vocals) joined. They released their debut album 'Lonesome Dreams' in October 2012. In Ben's own words, "It’s a recording project I started a couple of years back. I put together some songs and released them on CD-Rs. They got a little bit of attention online, and I started getting offered some shows. I gathered up some buddies, and we’ve been touring and playing ever since. We just recorded our debut record and it’s going to come out next week." via Prefixmag. Major Discography:They have their debut album Lonesome Dreams.
Sounds Like Genre:Indie/Folk Similar Bonnaroo Artists:I dunno. The "lineup genre" thread here on inforoo has them like The Tallest Man on Earth, Edward Sharpe, Of Monsters and Men, The Lumineers, Mumford, etc. In my opinion it is like a slower tempo Of Monsters and Men without the female vocals? ha So in other words totally different...
Suggested Listening 'Time to Run' is rocking. Ben describes this video as, "A tragic tale of the foolish things a man might find himself doing for a woman, and the consequences that foolishness may bring upon him and those around him. It's a tale as old as time — one which has and will be repeated endlessly. We tried to be as true as possible to George Ranger Johnson's book."
Physical Reaction/Live Show Me and my gf saw them at the Bluebird last month. They are nature loving laid back band, but some of their tunes have enough tempo to really get people moving. 'Time to Run' most notably got the place rocking. You could tell they are new as a band and I got the sense they don't realize how good/how much people are jiving to their music quite yet. When they played 'Time to Run' Ben got giddy and some of the other band members seemed kind of aw struck and not in a fake sense. Like they just looked like deer in the headlights going, "Wow". Overall it was a good show, but wished they would of played longer. Pics from the show: Ben
Interesting Facts Interesting Fact 1: Ben does all the artwork for the band albums that is also included inside the booklets. Here is some of his art:
(^^^ from Mighty EP)
(^^^ Into the Sun EP)
Interesting Fact 2: Much of the songs are heavily influenced by nature and specifically Lake Huron that Ben spent a lot of time at growing up. "The Lake" gets referenced and this is "The Lake". Lake Huron is in Michigan and connects to Lake Michigan via small waterways. Here are some pictures
Personal Notes I personally LOVE their music. The lyrics are from the heart and the sound has some deep layers. I'll 110% be at this full set at Roo come have a beer

Great job!!! I like them a lot more after checking them out...I really do not consider them folk more "Indie" (I hate that term yet I just used it. It is as bad as the term Alternative) I guess.
