So I really couldn't figure out a place to ask this question so I figured I'd just post it here. I'm going to need to take business calls during the weekend and I've never been able to get any kind of cell reception out there. Is there a particular place I could go where it would magically start working? Will I have to walk out of the festival grounds for it to actually work? I'm with AT&T. My trip is on the line so I have to figure out something. Any advice?

Middle of a Philly, middle of a field in Manchester, AT&T always has the worst reception IMO.
You might think about taking calls across Google Voice on some kind of wi-fi or hard-wired connection. I have no idea where you'd find such a connection at Roo, but at least it's something to consider.
With AT&T you will not be able to make and receive calls reliably. You can get somewhat OK service with Verizon but would need to do it on off peak hours and pray (6am-10am). With AT&T & Verizon basic text can take hours to receive and receiving VMs happens randomly throughout the weekend with no consistency. If you are intending to work over the weekend at roo you should make new plans as it is not really possible. There is no quality wifi connections at roo. Worse case you maybe able to use a land-line or cell by day parking and leaving the grounds for scheduled meetings but no dice for on site.
A sat phone will work there with clear line of sight to the sky but very pricey. There is a local nashville store that rents them but you talking a very high price per minute: www.outfittersatellite.com/rentals.htm
Right under $2 a minute unless you need bulk minutes then you can get it down to as low as $1.09 a minute. ouch!

The fact of the matter is the sheer volume of people, nigh all of which will have some sort of cellular device, are going to overwhelm the cell tower of just about any carrier. gaebryl is on the money here. If at all possible, re-work your schedule so that you don't have to deal with it that weekend. Besides, do you really want to be worrying about work while at Roo?
My phone didn't work all weekend. I have an iphone with At&t, by Friday midday I just turned it off and put it in my car. Maybe other people had different experiences but I wouldn't count on it.
Sat phone or take care of it before or after. If business has to be done by you from roo it probably won't get done unless you leave the site and take a cab into town and use a land line. I don't know how roo affects cell phone service in the rest of Manchester, you might get a signal a bit away from the site. God luck. I hope you can figure this out.

I have Verizon and have never had an issue with calls...might want to pick up a prepaid option with Verizon. There will be no contract so you can dump the hone after roo.
I get jealous of those that say they've got Verizon and had no issues. I have Verizon and always have long lag with texts (hours) and calls don't go through or you thought you called someone but they don't get a missed call on their end. Too complicated...
I have tmobile and had no trouble calling or receiving calls last year. Maybe I was lucky.
I had T-Mobile last year and was only able to complete one call all weekend. That was Saturday morning at like 9AM and was happy to be able to call my kids and say hello. I tried multiple times before and after that with no success.
I have Verizon with an iPhone now so I am hoping for an improvement, especially with Father's Day being Sunday. I will walk to the damn moon to make sure I talk to my kids since I am missing FD with them. I hope that isnt necessary. I will probably just call them as soon as I get up to get it out of the way.
I mentioned this in the suggestion thread but here in Kansas City when we have NASCAR races, they bring in temporary cell towers for that area to help with the 100k extra people in the packed area for the weekend. I am sure it cost a lot but that is something I wish they would consider doing. Out by the NASCAR track is one of the only areas of the city where I have reception issues and when I have been out near there during NASCAR weekend, I have no issues so it really does help not only get service to its regular point with all the extra people but actually improves service.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.
