BIOGRAPHY: (from Wikipedia)
Walk the Moon (stylized asWALK THE MOON) is an indie rock band based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Lead singer and Cincinnati native Nicholas Petricca started the band in 2008 and went through several member changes before finally coming together with current members, Kevin Ray, Sean Waugaman, and Eli Maiman sometime in 2010.[1] The band derives their name from the song "Walking on the Moon" by The Police.[2] The group independently released their debut album, i want! i want!, in November 2010, receiving airplay for the track "Anna Sun" on WCRD,WFPK, WKNH, WRLT, andWTMD. In February 2011, Walk the Moon signed with Mick Management. They signed to RCA Records and released their first official album, Walk the Moon in June 2012.[3] Their self-titled debut is composed of many of their original tracks from i want! i want! in addition to new tracks that were written specifically for the album and were meant to reflect the kind of energy the band produced in their live shows.[4]
SPIN Magazine has described them as a "poppy, art-rock quartet".[5] They were also deemed a Nylon Magazine Band Crush for their "swirly pop beats, infectious guitar riffs, and loud, sing-a-long choruses."[6]
"Anna Sun" was named the song of the summer in a 2011 Esquire article "30 Summer Songs Every Man Should Listen To".[7] Written by Petricca and New York singer/songwriter Nick Lerangis towards the end of their college career, the song is named after their professor (see here and here) from Kenyon College and is meant to symbolize youth. "It's about college, about maintaining that little bit of being a kid," Petricca said. "Don't be afraid to play."[8]
The band's self-released album i want! i want! was recorded by Chris Schmidt and Ben Cochran at Soap Floats Recording Studio in their hometown ofCincinnati, Ohio. In November 2010, the "Anna Sun" official music video was released to coincide with the disc.[9]
MTV Hive calls the video a "hilariously choreographed, neon-colored and awesomely shot in one take" production.[10] The video was produced by a localCincinnati company, Contrast Productions, and features original choreography from Kim Popa of PONES Inc., as well as a cast full of the band's friends.
"Anna Sun" was added to the video rotation of American Eagle Outfitters stores in May 2011. It was featured on the hit TV show Vampire Diaries in the first episode of season three.[11] It was also the free single of the week on iTunes for the week of May 15. It has also been named song of the summer by MTV and Seventeen Mag as well as one of the top songs of the year by Amazon. It has been officially remixed by Fool's Gold and by Trouble Productions. It also rose to the number one spot on Alt. Nation on Sirius XM Radio. Along with the success of Anna Sun, Alt. Nation has named them a band you need to know for the Summer of 2012.

VIDEOS:
The three most well known songs by Walk The Moon are "Anna Sun", "Tightrope" and "I Can Lift A Car". The band played Bonnaroo in 2011 and began performing with face paint, as evidenced by the video below. They typically bring paint to share with fans as well. Most of their songs have easy to learn choruses that result in sing-along's at their shows. They perform with a lot of energy and most people in the crowd will be dancing/singing along.
Below is the most recent setlist from one of their shows. All songs are from the self-titled album unless otherwise noted.
1. Quesadilla 2. Next In Line 3. Shiver Shiver 4. Tete-a-Tete (Tightrope EP) 5. Tightrope 6. Lisa Baby 7. anywayican (Tightrope EP) 8. I Can Lift A Car 9. Iscariot 10. Fixin' 11. Me & All My Friends (i want!i want!) 12. Anna Sun Encore: 13. Drunk In The Woods (Tightrope EP) 14. Jenny

caught them at FIrefly last year, they played the same time as John Legend. You could totally tell that everyone who wanted to party was at the Walk the Moon set. Really looking forward to their set, and I really hope it doesn't conflict with Alt-J like everyones mock lineup predicts it will!!!
Being from the Cincy area, I have seen them from the start and at Roo 2011, I actually shed a tear I was so proud of them! I will be as close to the stage as I can get for this one!

I am SOO happy to be able to see the full set this year. I still get goosebumps thinking about when they played Iscariot at Firefly. Its such a powerful song
There are few bands that put out an album that I can say I love every song on. Walk The Moon is one of those bands for me. Absolutely a can't miss! It's rare to see a concert where you are pumped to hear every song. Can not wait for this one!
