I know you directed this at Fuzz, but I just wanted to clarify that I liked Claiborne's answer but feel other's responses, i.e. LeSean McCoy's, are just as valid. I just took issue with the interviewer trying to create a more controversial interview by trying to play off the assumption that everyone had to be mad about it.
What was McCoy's response?
And I'm sure Claiborne was upset by the comment just isn't wasting his energy harbouring resentment.
It's more along the lines of him forgiving Cooper but won't consider him a friend anymore and lost tons of respect for him. McCoy also said he wonders if this is really who Cooper is since he didn't think there were cameras around or people watching. I am sure there were more intense reactions, but McCoy's came to mind first since he is an Eagle. www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000224520/article/lesean-mccoy-cant-respect-a-guy-like-riley-cooper

Great response from McCoy also. I've witnessed drunken white people foolishly throw that word around as slang reffering to other white people. I don't know Cooper. Chances are he is a racist piece of shit. Or maybe he is just a run-of-the-mill douchebag.

I'm finished with this, hopefully. Whenever I see Cooper on TV I'll think, "Hey, there goes that jerk." I'm not wasting anymore thoughts on him otherwise.

As long as you understand that those jolly white folks who use a racial slur to refer to their other jolly white-folk buddies are, in fact, racists.

I'm not defending racism and never once defended Riley. I just don't feel Cooper is worth the media attention he is getting and it's just something getting pushed on other players in interviews to create talking points and bring societal topics into sports before the season gets going. Then I ended up defending my point that players have encountered racism in their daily lives before after Flanzo acted like that was an unbelievable statement.

Drunken redneck wearing flannel at a Kenny Chesney concert? I'd say run of the mill racist summers breeze.

I had to do some searching around the web to see what the reaction has been elsewhere to this incident. Interesting thoughts from Stephen A. Smith. He makes the point i was trying to at the 10 minute mark. Skip was a lot less lenient in his take.
I have it on good authority you are not an African American, Fuzzy. I don't know how you feel you can speak with the same perspective as someone who is.
Stephen A. Smith is entitled to this opinion because he has experienced racism in his life. He was born at the end of the Civil Rights Movement and undoubtedly faced racism throughout his entire childhood that he had to overcome in order to get to where he is. What he says may not be true for everyone, but he at least has the history to support what he's saying. You don't. For you to say that black people should essentially "get over it," is just outrageously insensitive. No one that is pissed or upset over this is dropping their entire lives on the floor to picket outside of Cooper's home, but to act like there shouldn't be an ongoing dialogue about things of this nature is just irrational. These things NEED to be discussed and addressed or they'll never go away.
And you do realize that Stephen A. said he should absolutely be suspended, right? His first sentence undermines everything you're saying.

I never said anyone should get over it. And Smith says that Goodell should suspend Riley based on past punishments handed down over criminal charges which this is not. Players almost daily bring negative publicity to the NFL on social networking formats like Twitter.

How dumb can you be?
How many of those NFL players use RACIAL EPITHETS on twitter? And your qualifying a statement after the fact is hindsight. The biggest "support" you could find of your stance is one that directly undermines your original point in this mess. Good stuff.

I'm disappointed in the league. They had a real opportunity to draw the line in the sand on where the league stands on these types of issues. I felt a one game suspension would have been a fair punishment, but at least a healthy fine would have been nice. I don't know why they couldn't have followed the NBA's lead in a no tolerance for hate policy. (See: Roy Hibbert, yes I know the words were different, but derogatory just the same, no he wasn't suspended, but he got a solid fine, and context is important here, Cooper's use of the word was used in a violent and threatening way).
So many capital T truths. So many emotions. So little NFL talk.
How 'bout them Broncos at 8:1 to win the super bowl. Got 3 hundo on it. Lets go donkeys.
I think Buccaneers to win the Super Bowl at 50:1 is the best value right now. They gave up the least yards on the ground last year and added Revis to their secondary. Their offense will only be better with a healthy Carl Nicks and Davin Joseph (two pro bowl lineman who were out for significant portions of last year). Josh Freeman is also on a contract year. Not saying I think the Buccs are favorites to win it, by any stretch. But 50:1 is pretty damn good odds compared to the rest of the league.
I'd probably go with Steelers @ 28:1. Tampa has a much tougher road to even make the SB and I don't trust Josh Freeman as far as I can throw him (and apparently neither does Tampa, since they drafted his replacement in April).

I don't even know how this has gotten so far. I simply stated with it not being a legal matter or an issue of something that occurred on the field it is reasonable for Goodell not to take action and leave it up to the players team to decide the extent of punishment administered otherwise they would have to investigate every unwise comment and decision a player makes in their personal life. Fuck Riley Cooper. I'm sure if the Eagles weren't hurting at his position he would have been cut rather than just fined. I look forward to seeing several punishing blows dealt to him in the pre season and on into the regular season if he makes it past the final roster cut.

Besides the Buccs' games @ New England, @ Seattle, vs. San Fran, and 2 games against Atlanta, I wouldn't be surprised to the see the Buccs win the rest of their games (I think the Lions, Saints, and Panthers are nothing special). I think they can easily win 9 or 10 games. Pittsburgh might have an even easier schedule though.
I think the Bucs are the worst team in that division, so we'll probably not agree on this one.

That is a ton of value. I have seen more then on prediction they beat NO and NE. How about NE at 9:1.. I think that has to be some of the worst value. I get they are still a powerhouse and Bill Belichick is not checked out. But with all the drama surrounding the team, Teebow bringing water, Hernandez murderin' and falling short so many times I wouldn't ride them at all. Falcons, 49'ers, Broncos, Packers I think all I think should be more favored then NE.

I could see the Buccs passing the Saints in the division this year if Freeman plays well which I expect him too. They have definitely added some help in the secondary for there matchup against the passing attack when they meet up for their head to head battles. It will also be interesting to see Sean Payton back on the sidelines and how that all plays out. I'm reall looking forward to seeing the Buccaneers corners go up against Roddy and Julio.

I think the Saints are such a coin toss with Sean Peyton back. They were going to march to the super bowl in my opinion had the NFL Commish not had one of the most over the top punishments I've ever seen. Should of been like 3 games and 100k fine. But that is neither here nor there. With him back I think they are either going to kill it or flop miserably. I think there is no middle ground here.

I think the Bucs are trending up and it remains to be seen who the worst team in that division is, but I also think Freeman is a capable quarterback. This will be his defining year, though, one way or the other, I think.

That's what people said last year about the Sanchize. Freeman is better, but not by a lot. The Bucs aren't sold on him, so I don't think any fans really should be.
That was just an overrated QB class in general. Stafford, Sanchez, Freeman were all top-16 picks. Stafford is probably worth that, but my god...not a very impressive group overall.
How we feeling about the Cowboys? They murdered my fantasy teams last year..
I've learned to never expect anything from Dallas. After Romo's 5 pick game against the Bears one of the members in a fantasy league I was in cut him. I picked him up and he was essential to me winning that leagues championship. In the real world, they can be great one game and terrible the next and never stay healthy.
