Yoooo, pretty pumped. After 4 years of paying for tickets, my podcast got approved for media passes. Wanted to reach out and find out what I need to do different this year? Can I camp in GA with my other friends? That's where I wanna be... Also, what are some perks/disadvantages? Thanks errybody!
Unless you got guest camping, you can camp with your friends. They'll just have to take you by the Holiday Inn Convention Center for you to pick up your passes. Years ago, you had to go to the radio station in Manchester and wait in line there, which was much tougher on said friends. Congrats and enjoy the AC in the media tent. And you should definitely check out some of the press conferences if you have a chance. One of my favorite Roo moments was seeing Eugene Hutz from Gogol Bordello, Ketch from Old Crow, Jovanatti, Gary Clark Jr and a few others on a panel. "It was a ride." And last year Kenny Rodgers talked about how he used to play golf with Alice Cooper once a week for years.

Just to make sure I'm not being 100% silly... Media Passes are my entry to the Fest correct? I always buy my tickets in the presale, so now I'm trying to sell them because I scored Media Passes. Didn't want I sell them and then be SOL when my media pass is just that not an actual "ticket" per say. If I'm right and you still need tickets PM me, I'm selling mine under face value. Thanks guys/gals!

Congrats- I went on media passes the past two years. They are your access to the festival and we got guest camping along with it. If this is your situation, you can go to regular camping on foot but you will enter the grounds through guest and your car will be in guest (vaguely between what stage and the KOA). Guest camping is a dreamy place with much shade, free showers, and good proximity to centeroo.) Also where the brooers camp- make friends and drink well. Hang with your friends during the day.
You'll also have access to the sides of the tent stages, and the elevated platform at which and the side reserved area at what. It'll spoil you.

Media passes are always amazing! When I used to cover UK basketball games, media passes so spoiled me. Free food & best seats in the house for Wildcat basketball games...Enjoy it buddy!

My experience with anything but a GA wristband, TRY! With my employee wristband I only get access to employee camping for the most part. But I always try and get into any nook and cranny I can get into. Flash it in the pit line and get in, try and walk through the exits when entering centeroo to avoid searches and lines. Media wristbands arnt lanyards (The Holy Grail of Festival Access) but a volunteer may not no the difference. Always worth a shot.
I had press my 2nd & 3rd Roo, and I've had guest or all-access ever since. I've never seen a podcast in guest camping. This is usually for major publications like Spin and Rolling Stone and guest of the bands. If you do however get Guest- CAMP IN GUEST. It is the best. Take advantage. You do not want to park in butt-fuck-Egypt when you can camp right outside of the Which Stage.
One of the coolest perks of the pass is that you get to enter through the exits of Centeroo instead of having to wait with everyone. You just walk up the exit and flash your press pass. This is how it has been for years, don't know if it's changed. Sometimes, sometimes, they'll let you bring a friend with you. BEFRIEND ALL SECURITY! This is key!! They will be more likely to let you and a friend in together if they don't have a pass, if you've been friendly with them. Bring security cold water and they will let you do whatever you want to do!! heehee.
And yes, by going through the exit and being press, they do not search you. But again, this may have changed this year. And different security guards are different, but I was never searched.
Hmmm, I don't know what else to say, it's already long. Feel free to PM me with any other questions. I could go on and on!!

Hell yes, Pondo. Who did you cover the Cats for?
My local Community college. I was pretty tight with the advisor to the newspaper so I covered games for them in return for free media passes. Got to meet Coaches Rich Brooks (UK Football) and Tubby Smith (UK Basketball) as well as ask questions to a host of then current UK Basketball players (Rondo, Sparks, Chuck Hayes, Ravi Moss, and Randolph Morris to name a few) as well as Kenny Walker, Sam Bowie and Tim Couch.
