Does this late night announcement not pertain to the late night Thursday acts? Or is it only Friday through Sunday that they just announced?
Also, what time slot are they referring to when they say "Late Night"?
Usually doesn't count the Thursday acts. There are "tent-closers" that people consider the "late nights" for Thursday. Basically whoever is booked last.
As for timeslot....it's typically after the headliner that night finishes up.
Maybe one reason theres 13 late nights and not 14 is because mumford is playing a later then normal set on What and theres no Which stage sat night. Bjork 9 - 1030 then Mumford 1130 - 1 or 130? Gotta figure Bjork will be on at night.

Alright here is my mock, I used the confirmed days for ones that have been confirmed to the best I know of.
Friday Which : Pretty Lights This: Wolfgang Gardner >> Porter Robinson That: Wu-Tang >> Animal Collective Other: ZZ Top >> Bustle in your Hedgegrow
Saturday This: BoyzNoise >> Empire of the Sun That: Soul Superjam >> R. Kelly Other: Weird Al >> Billy Idol
I didn't put to much thought into who would be first and who would close. I also assumed This will be the "electronic" stage.
I would assume with Pretty Lights, R. Kelly and Wu-Tang all being late-night and in the top 8 in billing that 2 of them will be on Which and we'll have late night sets on Which both nights.
Has anyone else that has been listed in the top 10, who played a late night set, played in a tent? Guessing maybe Alice Cooper and LCD?
Now I'm really hoping that A-Trak will be on Thursday night in the Mimosa slot. As the highest ranking "EDM" artist (not getting a late night) it looks possible.

thought about that too, but figured if that the case Bjork would be listed as late night then

I swear, sometimes people just make up "traditions" because of one year.
2010 had 15 announced late night acts. 2011 had 14 late night acts. There isn't a set number of acts that we are guaranteed. I'm not expecting them to add another. Is it possible? Sure....but I wouldn't bank on it.
To play devils advocate, ZZ top makes alot of sense as a day time act. Giving them the Beach Boys slot would have made more sense to me. Weird Al is another show that didn't NEED to be latenight. There are alot of shows this year that would have been better slotted as late night shows. No complaints though. I don't want every band that I'm going to see to play LN and conflict.

You mean to tell me something that has happens once in the last 5 years isn't tradition :-P Not a lot bothers me, but people who every year continue to insist we are getting 2 which shows just really get under my skin.
This is NOT good. Billy Idol is my #1 must-see for this year. Weird Al is my husband's. Either we're going to have to separate late at night (which I'm less keen about) or one of us is going to hate the other.
There's a solid chance they don't conflict. They might play at different time slots, or one might be Friday and the other Saturday.

Could R. Kelly play half unopposed against Petty, actually closing the fest? I haven't looked in the schedule confirmations thread, how was it that he was confirmed to play Sunday? World's most pregnant fan?

Would anyone stay and watch the end of R Kelly over Petty closing Roo?

Upon further review, I'm an idiot. This is really unlikely.

I would argue that the years that there weren't 2 late night Which acts were years that had late night What acts instead. So really last year was the first year in a while there weren't 2 late night stage acts.
2008: MMJ & Kanye 2009: Phish & NIN 2010: Flaming Lips & Jay-Z 2011: Lil Wayne & SCI
