It IS doable, but not recommended.... we did this in 2009, our first year at Roo. Because we had to leave the Farm for a good portion of one day to attend a funeral in Atlanta, the parking crew was gracious enough to find us a spot on the edge of an RV block next to the road. It was ideal for leaving and re-entering. Noise is a relative term, but generator exhaust (breathing in undetectable carbon monoxide) is a very serious matter. I assume you have RV friends and will be entering with them, and just want to pitch a tent to have your own abode? If so, then your tent placement away from the exhaust can be worked out for the best with your buddies. Normally however, tent camping is NOT allowed within the RV section. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the info! That's pretty much what I thought. Yes, we have family going in an RV and could sleep in there but one of the people snores so, so awful. There's no way I could sleep anywhere near him. We already decided we'd have to have our own space.
I didn't know you can't put a tent up next to an RV. Is it really enforced? Something you've heard? I can't seem to find anything to confirm this because that really affects our plans.
From experience, we had a group of RVs come in the gates together, with two of the RV vehicles having kids or folks like yourself unload the tents and set em up after the RV gets settled and parked (within their alloted space). Nobody bothered them. Otherwise, if you come in an accompanying car, make sure you get the RV Companion Pass. "Unaffiliated" cars with tents are not allowed; can't really say that they enforce it, but you'd be encroaching on others already there and that would not be a good way to start off a friendly campsite experience.
