Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
But I don't go to Bonnaroo for JUST the music, I go for the vibe and the experience.
Fixed and I agree with that sentiment, but it is an opinion best not expressed on this board. I do think that it's slightly elitist to think that just because people don't want to, or possibly can't due to any number of factors, camp for 4 days that they will someone have less of the roo spirit. If the long-timers act the way they usually do and give off good vibes then the people around them, whether they're there for 4 days or 1, will pick up on that vibe and pass it on.
tl;dr = Nothing can change the vibe of roo but you.
Ah, the general commenting populace of the Bonnaroo facebook page. Always the most rational, intelligent, and experienced bunch of people you could ever meet.
Hey, don't shoot the messenger. And just because a vocal minority is mindless and annoying doesn't mean that valid opinions can't come from there.
Maybe I'm wrong and everything will feel like it has in the past. But I don't go to Bonnaroo for the music, I go for the vibe and the experience, which cannot be found at any of the other festivals I've attended. It's like trying to preserve an endangered species.
The true Bonnaroo vibe died when Bonnaroo stopped caring about jam bands.
I've only been going since 2008, but I definitely noticed a difference in vibe from '08 to '12 (and the jambands were already endangered in '08; I can only imagine the vibe in '04-'06).
I don't even like jam bands but I kind of wish Bonnaroo would book more of them because I love the crowds that it brings.

I'm always confused as to why so many people spend their hard-earned money on a festival which they seem to view only with disdain and disappointment. If you don't like the vibe or type of music anymore, why keep coming back? Genuine question, not trying to be a troll.
I said this on the FB post too, but the email said there would only be two bus shuttles in/out per day...so a bus can hold what, 50 people? So 100 single day passes? You probably won't even run into a person with one. As long as its limited like that, no biggie.
I don't seeing this affecting much. They have 2 shuttles going in each day. How many do you think those could hold. Realistically your not looking at thousands of people. Low hundreds, if they are lucky.
I think you're right, Jho. This kinda opens the doors for them to start doing day tickets.

I'm pretty sure they mean there are two different departure times daily, but not necessarily only one shuttle at that particular time. I think this will be a supply = demand situation. The more tickets sold, the more shuttles they will run.
As someone who has camped in GA from '06-'09, had to miss two years (due to my job in '10 & getting married in '11), then was lucky enough to be able to splurge on VIP last year, let me say what this option means to me:
I thought I was going to have to miss this year as well, and like the other times, it was not a pleasant thought. I literally screamed when Empire of the Sun was added, as I thought I'd have to file them along with Arcade Fire and others in my list of bands I know I'll regret having missed.
With working full time and having our first mortgage, we have to be strategic with not only our money, but our vacation time as well. This option means that we will at least get to go for a bit (even though I'll feel like Cinderella having to leave during EotS).
Plus, it was impossible to convince our friends to go before, due to the whole 4 days of camping in the heat part. Not everyone can handle that (or wants to try). Now, my husband will be able to see the bands he wants to see on Friday with his buddy, and I'm taking a friend of mine on Saturday so that she can experience it as well. They were both like, "Sure! Let's do it!"
Personally, I think once they see how it is at Bonnaroo, they'll be more inclined to take the all-in plunge later on. And, though I certainly can't speak for others, rest assured that we will both be giving the newbies the rundown on the spirit of it, in hopes that they will be able to truly leave the rest of the world behind, if only for a few hours.
And for that, I am grateful that the option was added.

i like the idea only im a lttle upset that they will only let you come in on the bus. not exactly sure about leaving on it though. im still waiting on an answer from AC. i wan to know cause my parents want to go for friday only and live about the same distance from Nashville as they do from the farm. so obviously they dont want to go 50 miles out of their way to go home.im definatley still figuring a way to make this work so i can get them to come even if its for one night.
