I really wanted to find time to see this set. There's just no way...
Jim James, Conspirator, and The xx are going to be around for a while and you will have a ton of chances to see them. John Mclaughlin is 71 and this could be your only opportunity to ever see him. You have a month to chew on that logic.

I've seen Jim twice this year so I don't mind skipping him even though he may pull something special for Roo. I was leaning toward catching Wilco, but I've also seen them several times. I may just have to skip that and see McLaughlin. It really depends on the mood I'm in when the time to make that decision arrives.

I'll also catch an hour of The xx when this is done. I'm not worried about a good spot for Macca. I'd rather be in the back if the field with room to roam.

There is no other act on the lineup they could have booked in conflict with his set that would make me consider missing it. McLaughlin, this guy is a true old school (and new) jazz LEGEND!

Where there's a will, there's a way. It's just math - fewer times to see McLaughlin - and if he's still closing sets with this, I need to see it once in my life. Primarily until the 2:30 mark. And remember, Jimi Hendrix, Billy Gibbons and Kanye West have all said he's the greatest guitarist that ever lived.

... you guys are evil.
I have no interest in The XX ftr, but have never seen Wilco. I'll be seeing MMJ and the Superjam so I guess I can miss Jim. My buddys and I really want to see conspirator, so if I did see John M., I'd probably be alone. It just haddddd to be Wilco, didn't it?
In my experience at Bonnaroo, opting for the Legend act that conflicts with something more modern you want to see has always worked out great. In 07 I skipped out on the majority of The White Stripes set to catch Ornette Coleman's 45 minute set, and going to Jeff Beck and Jimmy Cliff in 2010 over whatever, going to Al Green over TVOTR in 09, David Byrne over Beastie Boys in 09, and especially going to Levon Helm over ZPZ and whatever else was playing. Unfortunate about that last one is that BB King was also playing at the same time, so I had to choose which Legend I preferred... easy pick, for me. And here we are 5 years later, and Levon passed away last year, with many still wanting the man to make a return to Roo. Definitely don't regret that one.
Aww, man. You missed the last Beastie Boys show. Those are all great choices. You really can't go worng wherever you go. I'm starting to side with rarities more often now.
Wait, that was their last show? Like, ever? I saw the first 15 minutes or however much there was before Byrne was to start and was completely unimpressed, but I made up my mind the second I first saw the schedule that I'd be going to David Byrne instead.

That conflict was killing me. The whole year of '09 was conflicted every hour of every day as I remember. I ultimately chose Beasties but I know Byrne was great
^ Me either... however, that changes little for me, as that Byrne set was phenomenal. But, according to setlist.fm, it was atleast their last full concert. I did get to see a little of it, at least.
