This is just my opinion, but if you are not at THIS tent when Japandroids end, you will likely have a very poor spot at Alt-J. If Father John Misty and Allen Stone are very high on your list, I would just stay at THAT tent (and have a terrific spot for those shows) rather than attempt to catch Alt-J.
The position I am in, Father John Misty, Japandroids, and Alt-J were all high on my list. It was the convenience of Japandroids -> Alt-J in the same tent that led me to the decision to skip Father John Misty.
Looking at Thursday and I'm fairly conflict free til I run into FJM @10:30 That tent, Alt-J @11:30 This Tent and Allen Stone@Midnight back at That tent. So if I'm loving FJM then I watch whole set and catch back halves of Alt and Stone. If FJM isn't doing it for me hen I catch start of altj and back if AS. My ? To Roo vets is approx how long does it take to get from This to That? Am I really looking at skipping altJ or Allen Stone even though I want to see both. Their sets are listed at 1 hour a piece and overlap from 12-12:30. Thanks for your input!
You'll most likely have a shitty spot for Alt-j, and possibly Allen Stone as well. I guess it just depends on how you like to enjoy your shows. Close as possible? Or from a safe distance with bad sight-lines?

This is what I am doing to. There is usually one show Every Thursday where the crowd is just obscenely and ridiculously large. I think there's a good chance it's Alt-J. I started listening to Japandroids simply because I knew if I want to be even close to Alt-J I would have to be at their show, turns out I am falling in love with their album. At this point I'm almost getting more excited for them as I have another chance to see Alt-J( and Father John Misty) later this summer.
It's pretty tough to decide between Django Django>>>FJM>>>Allen Stone vs Japandroids>>>Alt J>>>The Vaccines or have terrible spots for all of the above. I'm leaning towards sticking it out at That tent.
Japandroids will likely ruin everything for me, dunno how I'm gonna convince myself not to see that show....

I would say less than ten minutes as long as you are not a slow walker, but I would also agree with the other people that, if you want to not be way in the back for Alt-J, you need to be at that show early. Using the imperfect metric of schedule adds on Bonnaroo.com, Alt-J has around 2,000 more adds than the 2nd place act for the day (Purity Ring) which in turn has about 1,000 more adds than the 3rd place act (Japandroids). Alt-J is almost certainly going to be the most packed act on Thursday night.
I can get from any one tent to another in under 5 minutes, and anyone who walks at a decent pace should be able to do the same. That being said, you will end up with a poorer spot for a show if you show up late. Personally, for a few reasons, I rarely if ever get right up front for shows anymore.

I'm with you but the tents make it difficult to enjoy a show from the upside if I remember correctly. With the stages I prefer to be further back for the headliner exception McCartney. The tents early on I like to get the rail for the early show if I can. Later I just try to squeeze into the tents if at all possible. I doubt my plan for Ed helms superjam after swans will work. I don't think there is any possibility of me getting into the tent without seeing Sam bush. And possibly the band before him.

it's the worst at whatever the tent by the which stage is called. can't see shit from outside the tent.
can we petition bonnaroo to increase the size of the tents? could make thursdays easier.
