1) anyone have any go to websites for bulk glow stick purchases? I used to order from ravestuff.com, but this time something has gone terribly wrong & I believe I may have gotten "taken" by this website, I am now out $40.... I need a TRUSTWORTHY alternative. No glow granny either, their necklaces suck. I got a canister of duds one year.
2) I read that they're not allowing glow sticks???? Wtf? Is this just in centeroo? Or are they going to take my canister of glow sticks at the entrance? Why is this even a rule? I don't understand! I love glow sticks

Best answer I can give to question 1: Oriental Trading Company.
Best answer I can give to question 2: Glow sticks become trash when the night's over. Unfortunately, too many people just litter and drop them all over the place (really, they end up everywhere), or start throwing them during shows. Ever get hit in the head with one? I promise- it's not that fun. Those are some of the biggest reasons. They can and sometimes will confiscate them when entering centeroo. However, they work great as camp lighting, and with enough around, you can have a great feel to your campsite.

Oriental Trading Company has awesome glow sticks. We bought a ton for our wedding reception and they were excellent quality and even come in the marble colored ones.

culloweird basically covered it, but yes - glowsticks are not technically allowed in Centeroo. It's one of those rules that are very inconsistently enforced - I've seen people walk through completely decked out in glowsticks, and I've also been stopped for wearing a single glowstick bracelet.

Oriental Trading Company, never heard of them so i'm really glad i asked!!
I figured the "glow stick confetti" fad was to blame. i have been under a shower of glow sticks before, but it never really hurt. the aftermath of the "glow stick confetti" is pretty appalling though. But, I'm always that weird person who helps pick up even though i'm inebriated... just how i roll. Hopefully they won't confiscate them. I usually use them all around my campsite and wear a couple on my head as my porta-potty light. Guess I'll take my chances.

Last year I found a bunch of glow sticks in the dollar section at Target. I think there were 20 in a tube, but they weren't very bright. I didn't have any problems with staff confiscating them, but I don't think I ever had more than 20 on me at a time. As far as the mess goes, I'm surprised people can pass a glow stick on the ground without picking it up and putting it somewhere on their body. I know I can't, haha. If you're worried about them taking them at the tollbooth, I wouldn't put them in plain sight. Maybe put them in a sleeping bag before you roll it up or something.
UPDATE: sooooo.... i went on amazon and ordered 2 canisters of necklaces (one of solid colors, other of these tri colored necklaces that i just couldnt pass up on.), and a 100ct canister of bracelets. the very next day, my original order FINALLY came in, 30 days after shipping. so now i have 150 necklaces & 150 bracelets.... go figure.

In '11 my friends and I made necklaces out of hanging glowsticks for Girl Talk. Our reading comprehension was at an F+.... We got stopped at the entrance to Centeroo, but the nice gentleman did not confiscate the sticks. Because we were 'really smart' we shoved all of the glowsticks in my friend's panties & went in the other entrance. No problem other than we're idiots.
So to address your concern, you can get them in. It wasn't strongly enforced. Just trust your bff's cleanliness.
If you ask me directly whether Glow Sticks are eco friendly or not, certainly answer is ‘NO’. Coming to the reasons, glow sticks are made using plastic and they contain some non-toxic chemicals. These non toxic chemicals present in the glow sticks do not allow the plastic tubes to be recycled. So, glow sticks are meant for single use. Once they are done they need to be dispensed and that plastic takes more than several years to decompose in the soil, which thereby causes a greater impact on the environment.
Not only the plastic, the chemicals inside the glow stick when spilled out effects the environment by polluting the air. If the Glow sticks are burnt accidentally the fumes released from the glowing phenol pollutes the air and causes air pollution.
These are only few affects of glow sticks on the environment when compared to many other dangerous products, which are damaging the atmosphere.

I'm sure you'll have no problem ridding yourself of some sticks and necklaces, especially if you're in camp inforoo

Oh, there will be plenty to go around! I'm saving some for All Good, but the rest will be neon fun distributed to any dark individual.

I appreciate your points about the environment, and Bonnaroo is by far more eco-aware than most fests, but I feel like this is not the reason for the glow ban? Maybe it is? who knows. Glow sticks are fun and, imo, a vital part to festival life. For me, a festival isn't complete without them. They just make me so happy. And provide much needed illumination for thousands of inebriated people walking around in a dark field at night. And in the porto potties.
HOWEVER, I never partake in the "glow stick confetti" discussed earlier. That is just wasteful and irresponsible. Thus why I try to pick up as much as I can.

DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT
Here is what is not allowed under any circumstances (and remember we search every vehicle):
Glowsticks
So, tell me again how you would be disappointed to have something confiscated you were told not to bring in the first place?

Fact 1: This thread inspired me to buy 100 glow stick bands me and my gf will share and wear. Fact 2: I'm bringing my glow sticks & the man isn't going to stop me.

Just pick up after yourself. I mean seriously, if you bring like 300 glowsticks in, who do you plan on picking ALL of them up? I am all for glowsticks but some people just go overboard.

13$ for a pack of 100. I figured I'd give them out to people/hang them on camp. I get glow stick confetti is ridiculous. I think this goes for everything tho. You bring 100 beers do you seriously expect to leave 100 beer cans on the ground?

I've been hit in the eye with a 1' long, 1" wide glow stick at Bonnaroo. That being said, I'm still all for them. I'll never forget the glowstick wave that came from the back during Radiohead in 2006 and gradually worked its way to the front, with Thom eventually tossing them back at the crowd (playfully.) Or the glow stick war at My Morning Jacket that year that looked like a bunch of roided up, glowing crickets.
Getting them in to Centeroo is basically dumb luck. Some of the security guards will confiscate them, others won't. I tried to sneak in a couple tubes in my beltline in 2009, got caught, and the security guard's words were "Glowsticks? You can have glowsticks. Go have fun." The easiest way to get them in, however, would be to get a friend on the Centeroo side of the fence and just toss them over.
