I'll be attending Bonnaroo this year with my 15yr old son. I used to take him to shows when he was little- Phish and Further Festival- but he hasn't been to a festival since he was 5? Bonnaroo is on my bucket list, and I thought it would be a cool thing to do together. Anyway- I'm trying to decide if family camping or regular camping would be best? On one hand, I would prefer to be away from super drunk/high people, but I don't want to be around crying babies either. From experience- how is family camping? Is it big? Lots of little bitty kids or older kids? Is regular camping as rowdy as I'm imagining?

I was in family camping in '09 and GA in '10, and family camping is a lot quieter and more laid back. there were probably more younger kids than teens in family camping, but I would definitely recommend it. it may have just been my pod, but GA was a little nuts when I was there (kid-free that year). my neighbor was a vendor of certain substances, so he thought it was cool to blast music until around 6 am, completely preventing me from sleeping at all. then there was the dude who wandered over and passed out cold in my screen tent, who could not be roused after multiple attempts and ended up being escorted off by the mounties. honestly, almost everyone at roo is awesome, and it's unlikely you will have a bad situation in GA, but family camping is maybe the better way to go. I feel like we had more space at our campsite there, and it was pretty quiet at night.
