Queens of the Stone Age just nabbed themselves two Grammy nominations for their album …Like Clockwork (not to mention a “Live Act of the Year” nod from yours truly). Now, they offer up their two cents on the year in music, revealing their top 10 albums of 2013.
There’s some notable picks in the bunch, such as David Bowie’s The Next Day, Paul McCartney’s New, Arcade Fire’s Reflektor, and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ Push The Sky Away. Also making the cut are Phoenix’s Bankrupt! and Kurt Vile’s Walking On A Pretty Daze. It should come as no surprise that Arctic Monkeys’ AM is included, seeing as how Josh Homme himself contributed to the record and QOTSA’s covered the Arctic Monkeys in the past.
Check out the full list below (via BrooklynVegan).
Queens of the Stone Age’s Top 10 Albums of 2013: Arcade Fire – Reflektor Arctic Monkeys – AM Paul McCartney – New Earthless – From The Ages David Bowie – The Next Day Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Push The Sky Away Rise and Fall of Paramount Records 1917-1932 Savages – Silence Yourself Phoenix - Bankrupt! Kurt Vile -Waking On A Pretty Daze
Best takeaway from this was their list. It's missing a few albums that are floating around my year end list (Apparat, Autre Ne Veut, and AlunaGeorge just from the "A"s), but is a pretty good resource none the less.

No I've been throwing things in and out. I have my top 30 or so pretty solidly set, but I'm hesitant to put out a list before December 31st. I discovered Goat - World Music last year in late December and it was a top 10 for me, so I'm just holding out until I've listened to as much as I can find.
Can someone change the thread title to somethin useful like Best Albums of 2013?
itrainmonkeys, in the absence of CPK I'm sure he's appreciate a title update, seeing as everyone is putting the year-end lists here. More people could find and use his thread. Grassyass hermano.

It makes me giggle knowing how many of you have been duped into becoming Haim fans. Still can't get over those ridiculous, facial expressions the bass player makes. Working on getting her in an act with the drummer from Dawes. That face is only appropriate when actual shit is being flung at someone.

I'm pretty sure I've read that she does that because of some sort of medical condition or disability that makes it hard for her to sing.

I like your #12 Savages, but you should trade your #9 Savages for Deerhunter.

I'm probably blinded by that set they played to 500 people and watching a good 400 squirm. It doesn't make it a better album, I just remember these songs a bit better.
I should just remove the numbers and say this is 1 -25. I love all these albums equally.

Understood. But my comment was more to point out that you have them listed twice.
