Looked around, couldn't find a thread for this. Please point me in the right direction if there is one out there. Thanks!
My 3rd Roo, but the first time going with a large group of friends. We have 12 people going, with that many people we are wondering about our camp set up. If you have experience with large groups, can you answer some questions for us?
What has been your experience with camping with a large group?
How many cars did you take? (We are thinking 4)
Was space an issue? How many tents/ez-ups did you use?
If you have any pictures of your set up please post them. Any and all advice is needed and welcomed.
We had... I think 15 of us in 2010. We had 6 cars I believe, only 1-2 to a tent, a shower tent. What we did was have sort of an alley in the center with EZ-Ups and tarps int he center for a long living room of sorts. We had no issue with space at all, just had to let those navigating our cars know that we were all together. One thing, our setup got HOT! It would have been better to have more cross-flow. However people kept stopping to compliment us on our massive camp. Some pictures:
First off the more cars you can bring the better you will be because you will have more space. Remember supposedly they are cracking down on camping site size making people stick to their 10x10. So if you have 12 people and four cars. I would bring 2 ez ups and put them together behind two of the cars in the middle then the ones on the ends would be where i would put my tents at. I always like the central meeting area though like the one in the pictures above.
In 2008 a friend and I created Camp Dr.Purppy and it started out with roughly 10 people. In 2009 we had over 30 of us. Like i said above I told people to only have 2 people to a car unless someone really needed to carpool. This allowed us roughly 10-12 cars total and we had all the space we would ever need. Basically we owned a full row. I understand how some can not do this because of travel distance. I graduated from Tullahoma which is roughly 20 min away from the farm so it was easy for us to have that many cars. If you have any more questions ask away.

Thanks for the feedback.
We discussed bringing more cars, but there is a concern of staying together on the way there and all that. What we are thinking of bringing with our 4 cars is; 2 shade tents, 3-4 four man tents and some tarps for extra shade. Two of the vehicles will be SUVs so we may use them to extend our shade area if we have enough room. A main concern is being cramped under the shade tents with no breeze blowing.

We came from DC. We had a meeting spot at a hotel the night before where a few of us caught up, then we had a second meeting place at a McDonald's right near Bonnaroo where we got into our caravan. We let everyone know our cars were together, from those directing traffic to fellow drivers. People were pretty great about it. But the only way to get the space for lots of tents is to have the cars. Four should cover four tents though!
