They really don't care that much. I mean if you have 10 cases with a car of 2 people then they might say something, but 48 cans per person (regardless of size, no glass) will be more than ok. Another thing to keep in mind is they are not going to be counting your booze by hand so just put the cans in a cooler (which they should be in anyways), and you will be fine. They didn't even open our coolers last year. The only reason that rule is in place is to keep people from bringing in tons and selling them.
I always bring a lot of booze, but it's already spread across various coolers and on ice by the time I get to the gate. In my previous 5 Bonnaroos, not a single sh*t has been given by any volunteer at the gate.

Unless your being hassled by a dick volunteer that wants it for himself you will be fine. I always bring a ton more than it states your permitted to have.

I'm doing a 30 pack of Genny Light for my cheap, a 12 of Heineken Keg cans, and a 12 pack of ABC Shiva's to trade. Add in 2 bags of wine (slap my bag bro!), and a 1/5 of canadian whiskey- that's my personal haul. Triple that (with a few different options), and you have the full load of my car. Another reason I think they have the limit is because it's unlawful to transport much more in a car without having to get a transportation permit in many states. I can tell everyone travelling through NC- it IS illegal to drive with 8 Liters of hard liquor or fortified wine while not holding a permit (see here- abc.nc.gov/education/permittee/faq.aspx ). The permit is available at any ABC store statewide. Be smart- get it and avoid the hassle if you are bringing in so much.

If it's a hot year, you won't get through it anyway. Last year the weather was perfect and we still only managed to get through two cases. I can't imagine trying to drink that much beer in 90+ degree weather. Vomit city.
I brought two measly 12-packs to Bonnaroo last year and I was giving many of them away out of my vehicle on the way off the farm Sunday night. I guess the Roo just isn't really an alcohol event for me.
From what I remember, we would usually drink about two or three to start the day, bring two to down on the walk into Centeroo, have two or three ridiculously expensive beer inside, go back to the tent to rest for later and have three or so, then two more for the walk, and then a couple inside. In the end, that is only about ten of your own beer each day, and Sundays are lighter because of driving at some point. So, you really only need about 36 per person.
Seriously? Seems like, then, a logical bribe for exceeding the limit would be a twelve-pack. "Here, take this with you and let's call it good without you digging those coolers out from under the mountain of camping gear in the back of my pickup."

Honestly, yes, I think this happens. When an infoorster worked one year for Roo, he had a TON of alcohol that had been "confiscated".

I didnt even know there was a 'rule'. Me and my chick usually combine for 60oz of vodka, 24 mixed beer, 16 chick coolers, and a splash of tequila or something. Never had an issue.

Its too hot for a beer fest. Buy some vodka, some ridiculously fun colored mix, a hundred bags of ice and you will change your tune. (Beer is only to be shotgunned and ice cold to start your day and for the route to the stage).
I recall my first year in 2007 (the hottest I've ever experienced in my six 'Roos) me and my buddies managed to crush just about all of our beer and liquor. And we brought around eight cases, and four or five bottles of liquor between five people. I chalk it up to youthful exurberence at this point. Now I'll bring 48 beers and a bottle of whiskey, and return home with at least a third of what I brought, and that's after[/] givin' shit away.

Don't chance it. Either buy plastic liquor bottles, or pour your nicer liquor into plastic bottles. Like soda bottles or something.

Some people hide them but I wouldn't recommend it because if caught they will take it.
Plenty of plastic jugs that can be used for them. Might be a little annoying to transfer the liquid from one to the other but you'll definitely have your booze when you're going through the gates.

I've watched them remove lots of beer and liquor in glass from people's cars at the toll booths, so I would not chance it. I just pour liquor into water bottles and take pouches of wine. I don't think they really care much about amounts but they are super strict on no glass.
because of the way we loaded up our cars last year, I ended up with 2 of the beer coolers in my trunk, which was waaaay more beer than the wife or I were "allowed" to bring in. We just explained to security that we basically had all the beer for our and 2 other cars, and they didn't hassle us. Probably helped we didnt have any food coolers or anything.
as far as glass goes, we always bring a couple bottles of champagne for mimosas, and bury them at the bottom of a cooler, cover with ice, then food stuffs, then more ice. never had a problem.

Last year where we camped there were people charging to drive people to walmart, so every day one of our group members would go get 3 more cases of beer, I think over the weekend we drank 9 cases of beer, and 3 handles. Excessive you say, I say playing it safe!

hey guys i went to do some window shopping today on beer. just trying to compare prices see what store had the best deal. but it looks like almost every place has them priced the same. about 20 bucks for 30 can case. went to walmart, costco and sams club. i expected to find like a larger case at same and costco since everything there is fucking massive but nope same quantity Walmart has. so i was wondering where are you guys buying beer from.

Beer prices can vary a bit from state to state, or county to county within some states, but in a given area they are what they are. As beer is pretty well regulated you aren't going to find much variation in price between two stores in a given area, be it a bigass store like Walmart or a club, or anywhere else that sells beer. Buy it wherever you like to shop, since it probably won't be much cheaper anywhere nearby.
Some specialty stores have end of season clearance deals sometimes, but otherwise the price is pretty much the price around here. If saving a few bucks is your goal, skip the micros and the so-called premium brands like Bud, Bud Light, and Miller Lite, and go for PBR, Genesee or a Trader Joe's house brand. I prefer them to the big name brands, and not because of the cost.
