This is the first time I will be doing VIP for Bonnaroo and I want to try and take full advantage of the opportunity. What have you found to be some of the best aspects of VIP and/or aspects that a first-time VIP may be unaware of? What kinds of situations have you found VIP to be very helpful which you may not have expected? I would hate to get to Sunday and only then realize there was something VIP related that I should have been taking advantage of the whole weekend.

Get a massage, grab a delish breakfast with organic fruit/etc. from a food vendor, enjoy a nap on a Fatboy in the air conditioned tent while you watch videos of the shows and charge your mobile phone on the end of a hookah pipe, be at Centeroo in ten seconds, etc.! Happy VIP!
Yep. I had a campsite maybe thirty or so feet back from the fence, on a bit of an incline, and if I stood up, I could see the screens no problem. If I sat down, I could still hear crystal clear. If you've got a good obstruction-free spot, when you stand on the trunk of your car, you can see the whole stage. Watched the whole Wiz Khalifa set that way!

Makes me wish I was taking a pick up truck in, so I could sit on the back.

I was thinking of bringing some ply wood to lay on top of my truck bed so we can sit down and watch some What acts from camp. Maybe some sort of shade too. I've seen a couple set ups where guys built a mini party deck in the back of their truck in VIP. Last year at Firefly, one truck had a double decker platform built that they used for sleeping their whole group like a giant bunk bed, with side rails and everything

Ill have my truck which has that built in cover. If you build your set up we need to put them side by side facing the stage.
My first VIP year we didn't have a great view from camp, but rolled a cooler and chairs out to the road for a great view. Was able to watch several shows from my truck last year.
There seems to be a couple small changes every year, having VIP bathrooms in Centeroo is nice, but know those close down around 12-1 am or so. There are seperate VIP lines for the What field and Arch entrances. Which stage VIP wiewing area is the best there is. The big A/C areas are nice, but don't spend too much time there instead of at a show!!

I like the hammocks they have under the big open aired tents in the VIP camping area. If you can get one, they are a great place to relax in the shade and get some quick shut eye. And I concur with everyone else on the new Which stage viewing area. It is a thousand times better than the old bleachers.

That sounds divine! I cannot wait! Anybody want to have a picnic one night on top of a car? ...Assuming we're not so terribly altered mentally to climb.
Tip the people cleaning the AC bathrooms. They work very hard in general, but after giving a tip, and a few minutes of conversation this lady went above and beyond to make sure the restroom was "febreezed" and stocked every time she saw me in line.
If you want to get food during the opening night party make sure to get there early. Last year they ran out of food.
The seats on the hill fill up fast for headliners. We usually brought a blanket and just picked out a spot of grass.
I've yet to experience VIP tent area that a few people have mentioned. Is this legit?
Doesn't everyone think they will find a way to fix the Thursday night food this year? Was this just a one year problem or has it been consistent? You would think this is something they noticed and take efforts to make better.

The VIP viewing area for the What Stage isn't that great. It's too far back. Also, there are plenty of people who just park their butts in those chairs and veg out. They not only don't dance, they don't even clap. Plus, they don't have the tasty beers in that viewing area. I think it was Coors or Coors Light.
The VIP viewing area for the Which Stage is much better. It's closer and no chairs (unless you bring your own. It's also much smaller, but less well known.
I don't do the VIP food program. The food isn't anything special. I like the food in Centeroo much better. There is, however, a stall in VIP that serves a smoked salmon breakfast burrito that is scrumptious.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Which Stage VIP areas. Does anyone have a picture of the stage from that spot? I'm hoping its not too out of the way, but anything that makes the Which easier to enjoy is awesome in my book.

This is my view of Ben Folds Five in 2012. I walked into the VIP area maybe 5 minutes before the set started.

From what I have seen, the Which VIP area never fills up. Some shows, of course, are more crowded than others. But the view is good from just about anywhere as is the sound. However, the pit area right in front of the stage (which you also have access to as VIP) will fill up for the popular shows. For other shows, you likely can stroll in five minutes before showtime and be directly in front of the stage. I did this for Grizzly Bear last year.

There is the larger area, angled off to the right side of the Which stage, which is the VIP viewing area. Near that entrance (just to the right), is the entrance path that leads to the front of the stage. You will see a security guard standing there. As long as the pit is not full, they will let you go through.

I went VIP in 2008, but I think a lot has changed since then. The Which Stage viewing area is a whole new perk that I'm looking forward to, especially with the caliber of acts that may be on that stage this year.

I don't know if this is thing, or if a few of us just got lucky with uninformed/super awesome volunteers. There are areas on the sides of the tents (IDK if they're for Roll Like A Rock Star, Press, VIP, or Artists/Guests) that I was able to get into with a VIP wristband. Every worker will tell you something different, so I would just try and see what happens.
