I watched the video fine earlier but now says it is private. Hangout probably got wind that they announced prior to the official announcement and had them shut it down. They asked a few questions about Hangout and they gave weird answers. It wasn't anything special. They then ask if they are excited that Outkast will be playing festivals this year. Was this some alluding to Outkast at Hangout? Seemed like an odd video. One of their roadies asking questions and them giving half real answers but definitely confirmed they were playing Hangout. Honestly, I had never heard of them before today. Not my style but could be a good beach show.
Capital Cities sounds like music that they would play frequently in whatever the trendy fashion clothing stores are nowadays inside shopping malls. I'm picturing a dude trying on a sweater vest right now and his girlfriend is all like "oh yeah, babe...I like that one."

if Portugal the Man, Outkast and Capital Cities are all true this is off to a good start for me.
dont sleep on capital cities they put on a great live show with a full band. i seen them open for Fitz and the Tantrums a few months ago and wasnt all that interested but they were really enjoyable and a lot of fun. They also played a radio 104.5 concert out here in Philly with just a partial band and it wasnt nowhere near as good but if its the full band and DJ it will be one of the best performances on the beach.
BANDS I DONT WANT: DMB, mumford and sons, pearl jam(have seen them enough),and pretty much everybody in the comment section on todays hangout fest facebook post, for the exception of a few
I hope they are right though, outkast would take my experience at hangout to a new level. I still don't believe hangout would book a hip-hop headliner. Maybe Saturday Chevy closer- in the bassnectar spot. Put Jack Johnson on afterwards and you have double headliners. Not too expensive if you book avetts/MMJ/vampire weekend as Fridays headliner. Andre could come out and do his part in Farrah Fawcetts hair during capital cities set. It's good shit!

Not to be a grammar Natzi, but I think "i seen them open for Fitz and the Tantrums" should be "I had done seended them open for Fitz and the Tantrums".
Jnust to be clear, I was asking if anyone else who saw the video found the Outkast comment weird or implying anything. Capital Cities is the only band confirmed. The video was someone (seemed like a roadie/friend type) with a camera pointed at Ryan Merchant. Sebu was off to his left but not on screen. The questions went somehting like:
1. Are you excited to be playing Hangout Fest 2014? 2. What is different about playing a set on the beach? 3. What are you looking forward to about Hangout Fest? 4. Do you have any surprises in your set for Hangout Fest 2014? 5. Are you excited that Outkast will be hitting the festivals this year?
It was just a random stray from the direct line of Hangout questioning.

The 5th question was "are you excited that Outkast will be hitting the same festival as you this year?

For what it's worth, Capital Cities is also confirmed for Coachella. So that may be the festival they're excited to play with Outkast.
I'd be on board with The Killers. Saw them at Red Rocks a few years ago, great show and I'd say perfect for the beach.
As for Capital Cities, that $@&*ing Safe and Sound song makes me want to punch babies.
If we really are talking Outkast, I'd like to round that out with some Childish and Danny Brown (or Joey Bada$$) as undercards. That'd almost make up for Arctic being Down Under. Still sad about that one.
As for Drake. Well that would = Hangout's best get yet! Right up there with Macklemore!

Exact thoughts... Capital Cities is that overpriced, popular, teenage shit that would take money from getting bands with more of a setlist of songs
I'd say Danny is certain from overlap with Buku, hopefully Gambino would join
No interest in Drake. In the words of flava flav- don't believe the hype!
I have to take up for Capital Cities. As the guy earlier stated, I went because of Fitz and the Tantrums and came away very impressed with CC. Their live trumpet guy was cool. Perfect for a mid day beach dance party! If you liked passion pit last year, you will like their show.

This is the exact same reasoning for why I won't miss CC. I didn't see Passion Pit last year, never cared for their songs, and all my friends that went to it said it was a ton of fun. After seeing the highlights on palladia I could see why. Looked like a real good show. I feel like CC would have a very similar feel, perfect for like a 4pm set on one of the main stages. I'm all for it.
I saw CC at Bonnaroo last year on Thursday night and loved it. It was fun.
So have you seen Dallas Buyers Club yet, Jared Leto fan? It's very very good and Leto is really good in it too.
Also, Sean O'Connell, of Music Allies, is the Festival Director for the first time this year and is involved in every aspect of the fest, including booking. Those Music Allies folks have been around the fest scene for a long time and have been in charge of Radio Bonnaroo and the Hay Bale Sessions for a few years now. I'd expect a ton of Bonnaroo bands of years past, which really isn't saying anything I don't guess.
Capital Cities should be cool, that Miller Lite tent last year at Roo was so packed I couldn't really hear anything, I expect that show to be on the beach and crazy packed ala Alabama Shakes a few years ago.
They did last year but they announced those very late and shut those down because the fest ended up selling out. You'll have to wait until about a month out to see if they will.
If they sell out a month before the fest, then no. Just go the whole weekend, if it's possible of course. Split a condo with some folks and it's only about 150 a person for the weekend and you're in a beachfront condo with AC and showers and luxury and stuff. I have friends looking for roomies if it comes down to it and everyone is cool with it.

I'm not really a Jared Leto fan. He's a fan of mine. I did like Requiem for a Dream though.
My Brother discovered the announce date and at least one headliner!
Looks like it will be announced on Palladia on Wednesday, January 15th. Not sure if this will be the "official" announcement, they may do something else with it.
Go to the site above- go to January 15th starting at 10:30 Central time. Hangout 2014 artists. What follows are shows by The Killer, BLackberry Smoke, Fitz and the Tantrums and The Flaming Lips. Looks like you can confirm those acts and we should know most of them with the accouncement.
