For me it's hard to give legit suggestions because my hair is sometimes super curly (humidity) and sometimes pretty straight on its own. Last year I just rocked a side braid or high chignon the whole time and decided not to worry about the little bit of wild hair at the hair line.
Also, now that I see your pic (it didn't load before) I would say go for twisting it up into a bun then maybe using a wide headband or bandana to keep it smooth and off your face and neck. It's easy and will keep you cool all weekend!

And to the OP, from a dude with dreads: overkill on the headbands and scrunchies; never enough in the arsenal. I am also a huge proponent for bandana's over the top, keeps the scalp from burning up from direct sunlight (since there can be issues with creases when you braid or tie back) -- a nice brimmed hat also solves that problem though.

I recommend doing controlled burns using a blow torch. It's safer.

Okay, I know what wildfire is now and that is a bit extreme don't cha think? I mean its very unstable and water can't put it out. I'm trying to control my hair not attack a city!
