My question is, I am getting a ride with my cousin in the RV, but won't be able to sleep because it will be overcapacity, so I'm bringing a tent for me and my other friend. Are we allowed to tent next to the RV, or do we have to tent in the tented area only? And, how far apart are these areas?

There will be room next to the RV for a tent, but it can be noisy with the generators running. Also be sure not to put your tent near anyone's exhaust. If you put your tent at the edge of the space near the road, as far away from the vehicles as possible, you should be fine. Just be sure to bring some earplugs
Tent only can be pretty far from the GA RV area, depending on where the RV winds up, and it can be cramped. Plus you won't be with your friends.

Thank you for the reply!! I'm just nervous in regards to where I am going to be sleeping. Just don't want to be too far from my friends, but also don't wanna be breathing in exhaust for 4 days!
