Hi there, everyone! I'm Candy. This year (as I have done every year I have gone to Roo) I was supposed to be driving to the farm with my very best friend in the world. But as it turns out, I don't think he's going to make it out this time. He has a herniated disc in his back, and the poor thing can barely walk. Now, I'm still trying to convince him to go and try to find ways to make things more comfortable for him, but though it is possible- it doesn't seem probable. So I am being forced to decide on whether I want to go alone or not. I do... I really do. But the idea is a little scary to me. The drive... and possibly not having people to buddy up with. So I need some friends!!! Maybe even some people from my area? I'm from Charlotte, NC. WILL YOU GUYS BE MY FRAND?! Let's meet up.

I am going alone for the first time in three years to Roo. I think if there is anywhere you could feel comfortable and not be afraid of meeting people and having a good time it is Roo! I'm sure you will have absolutely no problem meeting people and having the time of your life! I'd be more than happy to be your Frand and I'm sure there are hundreds of other Inforoosters who feel the same way!
Also, sorry I am coming from Kentucky so can't help you out much with the ride...

I think it'll be pretty easy to meet people once I'm there, but it would be super cool if I could meet some people beforehand. As a comfort thing, I guess.

I've already got one board member meeting me near Asheville, NC to ride out... She's coming from Wilmington... We're meeting the Wednesday just before Roo, and hitting the road (4.5 hour drive from here) by about 2 PM (tentitive). IN all, it looks like it will be a group of 3 cars, and 5-7 people. You are more than welcome to join in! You might even be able to meet her first, caravan in, then we all meet... There are a million options... let me know if that interests you!
Im sorry that I can't help out bit it would probably help to change the name of the thread to include your location and the fact that you're looking for a driving buddy. It will help you! Also, a mod should change the location of this thread?
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I agree with bonzai that this probably would produce better results in This Tent with NC in the title.
As far as going alone, I have gone solo three times in nine Roos. In a lot of ways it can be more fun than going with others. I wouldn't sweat it. In fact, I'm driving solo from NY (about sixteen hours) and am even looking forward to the drive.

Hey Candyenchanted, I am in Winston and also think I will be going alone. I just came on here actually to see if anyone else is going alone, and if it would be weird, or whatever. After browsing it looks like a ton of people do it. I went with a couple friends several years ago and come to think of it I did spend a lot of time wandering off on my own anyway.
But, I'm also slightly apprehensive, and wouldn't mind meeting others in the same boat. I'd be willing to caravan or maybe carpool, if you would want to meet up sometime.

I wanna be a part of this! I'm from Durham, NC and my friends ended up not having the cash to go, but I already have my heart set on seeing Tom Petty and Wu Tang. I definitely would be interested in carpooling. We could take my car or if someone is already planning on driving out from Durham I'd be happy to throw down on gas and ride. I could have seats for 4 awesome people, but 3 would probably be more comfortable. Holla! I'm new to the forum and carpooling or not I'd still like to get in touch with some cool people to chill with at the roo.

Bom&bur- I'd love to meet up before the festival if you guys are interested or have the time. I'll pm you both after work today and we'll figure something out. As for a ride, I will be taking a rental because I plan on sleeping in it. But if someone wanted to ride with me I would be all for it. My plans have morphed a bit though. I'm driving in Wednesday to a hotel to meet up with some long distance pals. And then we're all going into the farm together on Thursday morning so we can camp together. The more the merrier if anyone else would like to come in with us and set up as our neighbors!
Ps- I'm so happy that this has had such a great response. I feel really good about going alone now.
