So I'm putting together a youtube list of my favorite moments from bands I saw from my past 3 trips to Bonnaroo. Which gets me thinking, who is going to put on a blow away performance. Back in 2010 one of my favorite shows was Phoenix. They crowd was into it and the band was into it. The whole vibe of the show was great. So who do you think will do something that you will remember for a long time. Could be a headliner or it could be someone that you personally like and think will do something great. I know I'll take it into account if you post some good stuff and I think some others will to. Personally I think the Jim James Super Jam is going to be great!
Japandroids will likely burn the house down, and I wouldn't miss Björk. And yeah, the whole Jim James super jam into bustle in your hedgerow is gonna be the tops for late night for me.

I'll second Japandroids. I think the combination of the sun recently setting, it's Bonnaroo, and at the turning point on Thursday where excitement is at its peak, will create a perfect storm of awesomeness.

I agree. I've been debating how I am going to handle the whole Japandroids/Father John Misty/ Alt-J conflict. BUt I think you guys are right, Japandroids is going to be big and loud.

I'm giving it to Animal Collective and Boys Noize. Both shows are going to be loud and crazy, with some of the weirdest sights around the whole weekend.
Animal Collective at Bonnaroo at 3 in the morning? Only a special breed of people are at that one.

i am jack's pleasure center. i excite jack about late night animal collective sets at bonnaroo.
Twenty One pilots will be great, there touring for the first time and they are even more pumped than any crowd, so they will turn it up and surprise alot of people with a killer shwo, however, the fact that they are on early thursday will slightly take away, but I can't wait kick off roo with them. Sir Paul will obviously blow away everyone on Friday. I'm gonna hop on the band wagon and say that Jim James super jam is going to be stellar to say the least. And I'll second frankblack in saying that FJM will be AMAZING on Thursday, but Alt-j may be a close second, hahaha

Sam Bush is going to drop some jaws at the Bluegrass Superjam. His solo sets are great but any time I've gotten to see him in an environment that lets him freeform, he's killed. The higher the talent level around him, the more he ups his game.

I got to second the Twenty One Pilots. I've been listening to them since the Line up. Their Live Shows on Youtube look sick. I'm really stoked about Japandroids set and Bluegrass Superjam. I think i'm most excited about Tom Petty though, or maybe ALO.
Last year I think it was Umphrey's McGee and The Word. They both completely destroyed.
First time Umphreys show and all I could do was sit on the ground in awe. Until Big Gigantic hit the stage. Missed the fn memo on these guys! Awesome show!
This year my blown away moment will probably be watching Tom Petty with my dad. First cd he ever bought me, and he doesnt know he has a wristband waiting for him!

I read this as "blow away shoes" at first and thought to myself "ummmm, rocket skates?" ....Alt-J could be one because they seem so friggin talented for how short a time they've been known.

Word in the FJM thread is that this is going to be a show no one wants to miss and after seeing many youtube videos and becoming an instant fan of his album, I have to agree, though I've never actually seen Father John Misty. One of the highlights of the weekend will be the Jim James Super Jam. My buddies and I have been talking about it since the lineup drop. The excitement just builds and builds!!
For all those talking about 21 Pilots, I just saw them at Hangout and they were definitely in the top 5 sets of the weekend. Seriously...that good. Don't miss their set.

That's awesome! Tom Petty was my girlfriends first ever concert when she was a child so it's going to be a special show for sure. Can't wait. Hope your dad flips when he finds out he's going to Roo.
I have the entire 'The Word' set from Bonnaroo 2012 in FLAC format if anyone wants it. I found 1 single torrent of it bt.etree.org and it took hours for me to download because of the lack of seeders. I'm listening to it now and I can't believe I was right there for this live. Soo good.

Too many great shows from Roo's past to recount here. I find that I am often caught off guard by acts that I didn't know or weren't totally into yet when it comes to blow away shows. For instance, though there were many great shows last year, I was really blown away by Moon Taxi and The Roots.
So all that being said, I have no idea who or what will blow me away this year but I am not going to place any bets

hahaha, i know and it was a good joke at that! But thanks for the clarification, haha. but, for the record, I really am not sure who will be better in this matchup, but I've got a feeling that whoever it is will completely blow the other one out of the water. I saw Alt-J at Buku '13 and it certainly was a good show and sure they'll step it up even more for roo.

this reminded me that, last year, rodrigo and gabriella fucking slayed, and i was not expecting it at all.
