Many thanks to thesidebar for finding photos of me wearing the horse head. I think my finish time was roughly 25 mins (just wanted to run it fast to get the damn mask off!) which was good enough for a ribbon.

I kept up with you until about the turn onto Bushy Branch and then you were off.

yea he told me he could not see very well till we got there and spaced out. I think you and I ran the race pretty much together. I had the Grey sleeveless shirt and navy shorts.
The 9am start last year was way too late considering it was already 80+ degrees when we started at 9:15. I'm sure the number of runners wearing costumes will be much larger this year given how the guy who wore the Gumby suit won two passes to Roo 2014.
Anyone else have feedback on how this year's run could be improved?

I let them know they really needed to have it earlier and have more water. It was probably the worst 3 mile run I've ever done.
I've gone for a hotter run, but I was better prepared than I could be at Roo. Hopefully, we get an earlier time and more water this year!!

The 30-45 min wait in the sun last year was brutal...
Not that I am ever going to finish near the medals (I think I was at 40-45 min last year, literally battling it out with the guy in the panda suit...) but I wish they had a mens and womens division for prizes... don't most, if not all, races divide men's and women's?
Seriously... whoever was in the panda suit... we kept switching places and midway through the race I decided I had two goals, 1) finish before the pace car (which I did) 2) finish before you... and you passed me only a few feet before the finish line. I'm coming for you.
They keep saying
Don't stop, no one's ever enough
I'll never look back, never give up
And if it gets rough, it's time to get rough
But now I'm falling, falling, falling

They should have it on Friday morning. I bailed because I was already in full 'fuck it, i'm at Bonnaroo' mode by Saturday. I wasn't even awake when it started on Saturday.
I know that I will not sign up this year. Even if I'm back running by Roo, the stress on my back with preparing camp & everything else if just too much. I will cheer for all of you though.
dyinnng to know if the time results were posted from last year??? or at least top finishing times
I'm an avid runner, but I didn't run this race...in line to the comedy tent last year I talked to a random guy with a Tough Mudder shirt who said he heard the winner ran a 16 something...that seemed pretty damn fast so I went to check it out for myself by googling "Roo Run" and apparently there is a race with that same name that took place in Australia, go figure.

why didn't you run, the heat? going to bonnaroo for my first time this year!! im an avid runner myself and just found out about the 5k, sounds like fun. maybe that time was a mix up, 16 is damn fast, especially for at a music festival. eitherway, hope they have different divisions for men/women

The winner definitely ran sub-20. I think it was more like an 18 or something. There division I cross country runners there.

If they do it again there were no divisions and only timed from start. So it wasnt like a very organized event. Think of it more as a fun run.

I know the winner ran somewhere between a 5 and 6 min mile. I was in awe when I heard them announce his time
I did run this last year. And, the winners were in the 16 minute range, if I recall correctly. There were 3 guys who were college runners, and they were FLYING. I got out on the road portion of the course, not even a mile in, and they were already disappearing over the horizon. They were not strangers to the sport. Meanwhile, I finished somewhere behind the bear head guy (who was awesome) and the horse head guy, and just ahead of the "Party Animal."
I kind of felt bad for second and third place. There were only a few seconds separating them from first, but the winner got 2 tix for 2014 and a VIP upgrade for last shows. They got a swag bag and a fist bump, I think. Meanwhile, Gumby got 2 tickets and a VIP upgrade, too.
Lesson: It's better to look good than to be good.
I hope they do it again this year. It was fun, if not a little painful.

Was last year your first Roo? I think we might have met at the Roo Run.

It was my first. I am the old man in my profile picture.

Agreed. I was one of the first people to sign up and one of the first people to realize that Saturday was a terrible idea.

Yep. I met an old dude. We talked some before the run and then after because I was crazy dehydrated and looked awful? Sound familiar? I think we ran around a 23 minute pace.
That may have been me. I think I was wearing a visor that day, but only have pictures of other people from the race -- no selfies. I was also dehydrated a bit following the run (and really cannot drink from a cup while running), and looked awful (read: normal) the whole time.
We'll have to meet up again if they do this in 2014.
I hope they bring it back this year and do it on Friday by Saturday sleep deprivation and my feet wouldn't have allowed for it. It would be an awesome way to start the first full day of Roo though.

Last year I didn't even know about this until it was already full. Remembering how I felt by Saturday morning, though, I'm pretty sure I would have run a half-hour 5k, if not worse. Early Friday would definitely be best. I really hope they do it this year! How much was registration?
You were asked to make a donation to the Bonnaroo Works Fund, only $5 if I remember correctly. You brought your receipt from BWF when you picked up your bib for the race. Pretty good deal.
