One of these years I need to forgo all other fests and go to this. I keep thinking "there's no way they can top last year" but their lineups are ridiculously good consistently.
We ended up staying here (a different name now). It was a block from the beach (brilliant) 30 minute walk from the fest (bad). I'd actually suggest paying a bit more for a hotel, somewhere closer. 6:30 am f*cking sucks when you're walking into your room. We ended up taking a cab back the last night as we just couldn't walk.
Nice buffet, though. I ate the shiz outta bacon and cheese.
Oh, ftr, they have an amazing bicycle program where you pay a euro deposit for a bike. I was gonna do that but after the pre-fest party, I wasn't allowed to anymore. It's honestly the first time I've ever had an assault rifle stuck in my face and trying to apologize in 15 languages.

Actually haven't heard the whole thing, but I caught him opening for Deerhunter last spring and he was really cool. Pitchfork's been all up in his shit the last couple months too.
Edit: Speaking of Pitchfork, I see it's streaming there.

This festival perfectly suits my taste. The lineup is so strong I'd have a ton of conflicts each day. My wife and I are going to have to head overseas some year, possibly next year.
Le sigh. This is when I start getting misty eyed. ATP announced their stages.
Thursday 29th May Neutral Milk Hotel Shellac Föllakzoid Moderat The Ex
Friday 30th May Loop Slint SBTRKT Sharon Van Etten Yamantaka // Sonic Titan
Saturday 31st May Mogwai Godspeed You! Black Emperor Cut Copy Superchunk Hebronix
Did you go in 2013? The sound bleed between Heineken and ATP was terrible. I think they blamed it on the usually high winds so that may be resolved without effort this year.
And if you went before 2013, then ATP has moved from the steps next to what used to be the 2nd stage. They've changed sponsorship a few times. The locals call that area Mordor.
I went in 2012. It was tucked away behind the tress and an oasis, imo. I didn't know they moved it. PS seems to play with the layout. Hopefully they get that resolved.
Yes I loved it there. Dirty Three was great on that stage. The local council deemed the steps unsafe. Which was so obvious it made people take more care, alleviating the danger. Though I don't think that rationale would stand up in a lawsuit! Ray Ban is still the same though which is the best sounding stage that I've seen at a festival. I didn't catch much there in 2012 that I remember. Maybe only Wild Beasts. Swans there last year was my favourite show of the festival.
The Ray Ban was a favorite. I ran to catch Sleep and ran back when it was obvious they weren't coming. One of the best moments of that festival (for me) was my wife pulling me into the crown as New Noise started for Refused. Truly magical.
Have you done Le Guess Who? We're making the trip back in 2015 and can't decide if we wanna do Porto or Le Guess Who. I'm kinda digging a one day festival. Would give us tons of time to wander.
No I haven't but it does look good like quite expensive for me to go for one day though. I like Spanish festivals because late night is always loaded heavily. In Holland they tend to only have dance stuff late on which there usually means techno.
Hey I just joined to ask a quick question about Primavera for anyone who has been. I am studying abroad and want to purchase a ticket to the fest but was wondering the reliability of will call. Shipping to the US is over $45 so it would be easier to pick it up at the gate but being from another country could create a problem if they happen to not have the ticket at will call. So anyone else from North America that has been can you tell me the method you used to get your ticket as well as the best site to use for purchasing it! Thanks a bunch.
