I've always wanted a flag, they help a lot hen trying to find your camp site especially the first day or two. I've always been to lazy to make a pole though. I usually just find my camp by using neighbors flags and what not.
I'm the same way. I love being camped near flags. I also love when I'm standing near someone at a show who has some sort of flag/pole type thingy so I can tell my friends what to look for when they wanna find me.
We had a pirate flag last year and were literally right next to shakedown street (big mistake). I guess the shakedown vendors go around stealing each others pirate flags - and any other pirate flags in sight. My girlfriend had built a nice flag out of PVC piping and we camp back and everything was torn down and the flag was gone.
About 3 hours later we found 8 pirate flags stored in plain sight about 50 yard from our camp ground. We confronted the shakedown vendors and this older guy apologized profusely and said his son (who was also older) must have done us. He let us take our flag back and let my girlfriend pick out a free shirt which was cool. Our flag pole was pretty messed up though so that was rather annoying....

yeah thats a thing every year. some form of wook game. we fly a "Its hockey night in pittsburgh" flag and I'm always afraid someone who hates the pens (flyers fans) is going to steal it.

mine is always the same. 20' flagpole with a grateful dead dancing bear, penn state, and bob marley flag. when the cookie monster tribe was still a thing, we flew one cookie monster and one pink flamingo mylar balloon off the top. but I think that died out 4-5 years ago... nows its just the flags

Well I'm a Wings fan and was at the game 7 game in Detroit when the Pens won the cup, so I'll be the one stealing your flag this year!

a few years ago I came walking back up to my camp and found a girl standing on top of my car with a knife in hand trying to cut down my grateful dead flag. when I said hi, can I help you? i caught her off guard and she fell off the car... she was very honest with me and told me what she was going to do so i showed her how the flag pole just slides out of the base and the flag is just clipped up there so in the future she's not just destroying while thieving. she then decided it was going to be her mission to protect the flag so no one else ruined it... im not sure what substance i was talking to that day but it was entertaining
What's the cheapest way I could make my own camp flag?

I bought some florescent orange nylon fabric for about $5 (got more than I needed for the flag) then printed some pictures and mod podged them on. Sprayed it with water proofing. Worked pretty well. You could also just paint something on that kind of fabric too.
Ordered the blank yellow flag off Amazon for like $3
What's the quality of it. I would like tot buy a blank white one off Amazon to customize, but I'm concerned about how well it will hold up.
It's great quality. Has the two holes on the side for hooking it up to a pole. It's been through Bonnaroo and Counterpoint 2012 and it's be up for about 2 weeks outside in my yard.

Thank you! Do remember the name of the specific seller, promise this will be the last question.
We also flew a pirate flag last year and it was snatched! Along with my painter's pole, which made me even more upset! However, that is an easy solution, painter's pole, zipties, and ducktape to one of the legs of your EZUP shade. There was a guy with a truck and a huge wooden structure with a flag near us, so for the rest of the time, we just used that as our beacon to get us close.

Hahah no worries here. Um I don't remember the name of the seller. I think I just searched for blank flags or something like that.

Hey ya'll I'm new to the forum, although I've been a lurker for a while haha. This'll be my 5th Bonnaroo to attend this year, and I'm as excited as ever. Wanted to post pics of the two flags I made/painted for this year.. I've never done the camp flag thing before - and figured, hell, this'll be my 5th time going - I've gotta do a flag this time around!
So if you're walking around and see these two flags, feel free to stop and say hello!

We have a 20' flag pole, and will likely use the same college flags we use for tailgates to ID our site. I do have a smiley face flag that may find its way in to view.
Where did you find one that shortens to 4 feet? all of the ones that we are finding are shortest at 8 feet which isn't going to work out for us in a car or a truck.

I found mine on amazon, just search tailgate flag pole and a few should come up

I used old white pillow cases that I found in the closet. Cut them in half so they weren't as thick.. They work great, unless you're wanting to make a huge flag - then I'd just go to the local fabric store and pick up some fabric. As for designing them, I just used acrylic paint that I already had.
Planning on making a flagpole from the demo posted on this site. We are newbies, so I'm hoping to make a flag with a "Come by and introduce yourself" kind of theme. I'm all about making new friends!
