I'm still struggling with my schedule, so while outweighing the chances of seeing some acts live again, I realized there are a few of them that might be a bit harder to catch later on. Here's why:
-Jim James: He's on a solo tour for Roo but he'll be back to touring with MMJ for the Americanarama thing this fall. I think Roo is one of the last chances to check him out with the full Regions of Light band, and playing that material. -Divine Fits: They're an indie supergroup, I'm guessing after they finish their album promoting tour, they'll each go back to their main acts (Spoon, Wolf Parade, etc.) -David Byrne & St. Vincent: Same case as Divine Fits. -Superjams: They're unique to Roo. -Björk: She doesn't play that often.
Realizing this is the case with these acts makes it a bit easier to decide on the conflicts. Who else do you got that doesn't play that often?

Empire of the Sun Earl Sweatshirt solo show Passion Pit DJ show. Well I'm not sure if they play a bunch of DJ shows but I'm sure they don't do it as much as a Passion Pit show.

Divine Fits just released a new single. They might be sticking around. Jim James has been playing solo shows for years, he'll probably continue to do so. Byrne and St. Vincent, who knows. They just released a new EP so they might hang around. Bjork tends to play major cities pretty regularly, so it kind of depends on where you live.
Go see Cat Power, since she's nuts and could decide to stop playing at just about any time. Swans don't tour often.
That's about it, really. The rest you can catch pretty easily.
Someone mentioned that Cat Power at Free Press was terrible. She was really messed up or something, and the other band members looked annoyed. She may or may not have been crying by the end, it was unclear. Again, I'm going off of someone else's word, and each show can be very different, but based on that review I'm not interested, even for the novelty of it.

Other than her five shows in california and pitchfork fest, we're Bjorks only other USA show. She toured through here in 2007 playing major cities but before that she played 10-15 USA shows in 2001. I'd say this is a pretty big deal

This doesn't always work. In 2009 my worst conflict was Beastie Boys vs. David Byrne, and I went to Davd thinking I'd have more chances of seeing The Beastie Boys tour again in the future.

It's still my biggest Bonnaroo regret.
As a nearly lifelong Beasties fan, don't be upset - simply put, that show was a trainwreck. I really wish that hadn't been my one and only Beasties show, even if that meant never seeing them at all. It's quite sad to look back on it now, because MCA was already in bad shape. I caught the last 30-40 minutes of David Byrne, and it was a far better show.

David is still my #1 Bonnaroo show of all time, but I still wish I hasn't passed up the only chance I had.

As a fan of the Beastie Boys who saw them live in pretty much every era except the Licensed to Ill and Paul's Boutique vintages, you're nuts. I saw them in the early 90's (Check Your Head and Ill Communication), late 90's (Hello Nasty), early 2000s (5 Boroughs) and late 2000s (pre-Hot Sauce Committee). The Bonnaroo show was great. Outstanding setlist, great surprise guest, and MCA was actually doing really well that night. I've listened to that show a dozen times and it still sounds good.

Really? I just remember it sounding quite laboured. There were certainly some highlights, but in general the audience-band energy just seemed way off. I still had some fun, but I don't remember it as sounding great. Maybe I'll give the bootleg a chance one of these days and see if I'm not just misremembering things.

I remember having my expectations exceeded by the 09 Beastie Boys set. I thought they sounded great, had great energy, bringing out Nas, out of nowhere, never hurts. Maybe the atmosphere in the pit was better than the field, but I thought it was a great show.

I also remember hating the beastie boys set. our group was so excited for them but by the end we were all really upset that we didnt go to david byrne. im not sure if we were just in a bad spot or what it was, but by the end we were all pretty disappointed. i have heard so many people say how they loved that set so i will just assume we were in a bad spot where the sound was bad. im sure there were others. I have actually always regretted not going to david byrne until i found out that it was the last beastie boys show ever. now i feel bad for talking smack.
Add me to the Loved-The-Beasties-At-Roo group. I'll never forget the unexpected Nas guest spot, and I thought their song selection and energy were spot on. Granted, my group watched the entire show from the VIP hill, so maybe those who were much closer had a different perspective.

The beastie boys were old too, and I am sorry you missed such an awesome show. I didn't even consider catching anyone but beasties that year.
I was at the back of what and loved the set. Song selection, energy, good time all around. I hate to hear that people had a bad time because I loved every minute of it.

I've said that about B.B. King twice now (the last time at Bonnaroo 2008). 5 years later, he's still touring. At this point, I'm pretty sure he's going to outlive me.
I chose to see Byrne while all my other peeps went to see the Beasties. Byrne has been one of the most influencial artists for me & I don't ever see a chance that I'll pass on seeing his set for anyone else. I went back & watched clips from the Beastie's set & it looked really sloppy to me - after viewing some of the footage I'm kinda glad that wasn't my last taste of the Beasties. Although I could be totally wrong....
