I guess my main concern is walking back at night. It's pitch dark walking back and in the camp areas no?
It's not pitch dark, but some areas can be darker than others. There are a surprising amount of lights on most of the major paths to campsites. If you are camping in groop camping you shouldn't have to worry too much because it's a pretty close walk, and if you wanted you could always stop by Camp Inforoo. Like others have mentioned, they run "Festicabs" which are basically $5 taxis in the form of a golf cart and they'll take you where you need to go.
Brunch is located at Camp Inforoo in Tent Only. Camp Inforoo is in Tent Only but the exact location isn't known until we get there and set things up. Tent Only is not very large though so it should be relatively easy to find. Just yell "corncat" or "inforoo" while walking around. Also keep an eye out for multiple EZ-UP tents tied together/in close proximity that sets up a sort of common area for people to hang out.
It's possible we'll have some sort of flags. If we do have the regular one look for a rooster and the text inforoo. If not, I'd keep looking around tent only and check the board if possible to see if anyone points out the location.

It can be pretty dark in some areas. I usually take a small flashlight that attaches to my belt so its there if I need it. I use one of those 6" maglites. It's perfect. Or a headlamp those are cool too.
Thanks so much for all the info! I bought a headlamp! I was really going to cancel my trip after my friend bailed but you guys have really given me the confidence to do this alone! Thanks

I'm in Groop too!!! If at any time you feel kinda lonely or whatever, just stroll around. Bonnaroo is the type of place where you can crack a beer and wander around talking to people in camp sites. You'll be welcome at my site anytime!!
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.
I'll also be going it alone for my first ever Roo. I'm a little nervous, but mostly just crazy excited. I would love to meet up with anyone. I'm hoping to make the brunch. I'm camping with my car, as I don't think I'll be able to carry everything up to tent only.
Also, I feel wayyyyyy safer walking around bonnaroo than I do my own city.
I second this! I have never felt scared or threatened when I've been alone at Roo.
thirded! I feel like roo is a pretty magical place full of good vibes. while I might hesitate to walk some streets alone in my town late at night, I have never been worried at roo. there's just such a feeling of community there, that I have honestly never experienced anywhere else. obviously it's still a good idea to be smart and aware of your surroundings, but I have never run into trouble.

I'm going solo for the first time, as the rest of my group from the past three years isn't able to attend due to a new job, a wedding, and other assorted inconveniences. I'm not worried about being alone, and neither should any of you. Roo is plenty safe if you exercise common sense and keep your wits about you.
That said, Camp Inforoo sounds like a great idea for anyone, regardless of whether you'll be with anyone. I may make the call at the last minute depending on how good or bad my assigned campsite is. But if anyone would like to meet up at Walmart or wherever on Wednesday afternoon or evening and roll in together, I'd surely be up for it. Driving in as a group of multiple cars and friendly people gives you a few advantages, like not being too cramped for space because of bad neighbors or in case they park you super close together , you can keep an eye on each other's stuff, maybe cook together to minimize the hassle, have someone to walk in/out with, just have someone to watch your back in case of emergencies or camping issues, or whatever. Could be fun, and convenient.
*Fingers crossed that the tollbooth and parking procedures are similar to 2011 & 2012 and I get Pod 2 again. (Not that I don't want to try Tent Only, just not too keen an haulin' all my junk there AND back - I over-pack and share)
I am going to be alone but in the general campgrounds. This is my first time at Bonnaroo but I have been to a few festivals alone and find it is easiest to meet people when going solo. I have a good feeling about being able to meet people after reading this thread. Hopefully my neighbors are awesome!
I've done the last four 'Roos solo, after two years of going with a big group in an RV.
I much prefer going solo. The only downside is that you don't have any help setting up camp, but you can usually get a hand from a neighbor if you just need someone to hold a corner of your EZ-UP. After that it's great not to feel obligated to keep up with anybody.
I'm a dude, and one who probably doesn't look like I'm worth quacking with, so I can't really speak to the safety aspect.
This is my first year at Bonnaroo and I also had a friend bail on me. Feel free to pm me your email or number if you want to meet up or if you just want to have some contacts down there. I have actually made a few friends on this site so I won't be completely solo. I plan on going to the brunch and I'm gonna try to camp with inforoo if there is space. Only 4 days away! I'm so excited!!!

J Train or Stacerama, or anyone else, if you want to go in with people on Wednesday afternoon or evening, let me know. So far it looks like I might be going in with 1-3 other solo Roo'ers from this site. I'm not looking for a new BFF or anything, but it would be nice to camp with as many people from Inforoo as possible, since there seems to be an exceedingly low asshole ratio here, if that makes sense.

I'll be rolling in at 1 or 2 am. Is that too late?

Gonna be my first time at Roo and thanks to some friends backing out, I'm going solo. If anybody else in the same boat wants to make a new friend/go around meeting randos at Roo with me, shoot me a PM.

Probably too late for me, but who knows? I may continue to read/post here throughout Wednesday though, assuming I have cell service.

Chiming in as another girl who will be going alone this year. This will be my 7th year at the roo. Last year I went by myself as well-- it's a different experience but I agree that I'd rather go alone than not go at all. While people are friendly, you do need to be smart and extra cautious. For me personally, this subtracted a bit from the fun and freedom of the weekend compared to when you have a group of friends to check-in with. I met lots of people here and there, but nothing lasted long enough to diminish that solo aspect. I periodically met up with a friend last year, but this year she will have to leave early.
If anyone in a similar situation would like to meet up & make a friend for the weekend, I'd be all for it. Just send me a message. I'll be getting to the fest Thursday around 4-5pm. See you all soon!!!!
I am also going solo.. at first i was kinda sad about friends bailing and what not, but it's bonnaroo.. haha I am gonna be leaving Huntsville here in about an hour or so. I want to get there early and set up. Gonna do the car/tent camp because the weather is suppose to be bad tomorrow?? figured throw my stuff in my car and wait out the storm.. lol anyone that wants to meet up and hang out PM me!

That's ironic- my Huntsville peeps backed out yesterday too.
