Hello, I just moved to TN. I inherited a 10 acre farm not far from Manchester, TN. Last time I lived in TN I always wanted to go to Bonnaroo, but never had anyone to go with. Well, this year I really want to go (huge Petty fan) but I still do not have anyone to go with. This would be my first Bonnaroo, and I will be going solo. Im not an introvert or anything, I like talking to like minded people.According to many other threads on here it seems that Bonnaroo could be better alone. But, I have never been to something like this by myself before, so its pretty intimidating. Im just seeing if anyone has any pointers on how to attack an epic festival like this for the first time and going solo, or if there's any experienced Bonaroo fans that would like to meet up. Cheers!
Are you camping? If so, meet your neighbors. Easiest way to make Bonnaroo friends for life.
Talk to people at shows as well. Wander nomadically. Try to see as much as you can, but take time to soak it all in.
I have tons a camping gear (kind of a hobby for me) so I was think about doing that for the event. Since i live like 25 minutes away right now, I might go home for one or two of the nights to have a shower, clean bed, and what not. Do you know if its easy to come and go from Bonnaroo?

You'll have a blast. My second year going I went solo. I loved it. This year I'm going with just one other person, and we'll be pretty much split up the whole time and I can't wait.
I'm a huge introvert and I managed to meet so many cool people when I went alone. Chat with your neighbors, don't be afraid to talk to people standing around you when you're waiting for shows to start, but most of all just have a fun and you'll find yourself able to make friends whenever or do your own thing whenever.

If you camp it can get difficult to get your car in and out during the middle of the fest. Often times you neighbors tents and ezups are in the path of you getting your car back on the road. Most will be friendly and help once...but remember if you leave and comeback they are helping twice. And if you leave multiple times, well.... If you Day Park you can come and go as you please.
Here is Broo's policy:
In and Out of the Campgrounds in a Vehicle
We hope you won’t need to leave our little utopia during the festival. But if you do, please wait until all the traffic is in and processed. You’re swimming upstream before Friday night really slows things down. And to return you’ll have to get back in line, which could mean a nasty delay. Anytime you leave you’ll have to go through another vehicle search when you return, as if you are entering for the first time.
Exiting is only through the East or West Tollbooth. (The police will NOT allow you to exit directly onto the highway at the Highway Tollbooth.) Extremely important: Everyone in the exiting vehicle must have their wristband scanned out by Bonnaroo staff, and each wristband must be scanned back in when you return. If you exit through any other location, or fail to have your wristband scanned out, you and your vehicle will not be allowed to re-enter the site. Sorry.

Even if you live close, I would recommend camping and staying at bonnaroo the whole weekend. So much cool stuff goes on, especially late at night, and the campground can be just as much fun as centeroo at times. It is where you will meet cool people, see random stuff. A shower and bed are nice, but I wouldn't leave the farm for anything, and my perennial bonnaroo buddy lives in tullahoma.
I went solo last year. don't worry you'll have a blast. Like others have said, make friends with your neighbors and chat with people waiting for the show to begin. Actually, chat with anyone. You may arrive alone but you'll be there with 80k Bonnaroo friends =D
I'd also recommend camping and staying. It's more of a fully immersive experience that way. It's also very easy to meet people on the farm, like all the people camping around you. That should give you people to hang with and get to know. In fact, I'm camping with someone this year I met on the farm two years ago.
My first Roo was last year and I also went solo and had a blast. I made sure I was over prepared and had a nice setup for camp. That alone attracted my neighbors to hanging out and I made about 12 friends that night. I made sure I had a EZ up with plenty of tarps for walls also I slept in my vehicle. I put the seats up in my truck and covered the truck with a reflective tarp and set it up where it was not directing the heat toward my neighbors with tent poles. This allowed me to sleep longer if needed and an escape from some of the festivals sounds that are going on throughout when you sleep. Even if you sleep only a few hours, this was refreshing and alot cooler than a tent. Also, as a solo camper I brought extra food to share and that help get to know people. I hope this works as well for you as it did me!

Seriously, ^^this^^. Bonnaroo is only half music. The other is the experience. And I personally don't think you can feel the camaraderie that comes with no showers and no toilets and sleeping in a tent and being woken up at 8 am by the hot sun if you have an "escape route." Follow the second rule of Bonnaroo: "Be in there." No AC and shower can top the amazing experience you will have at the 'Roo.
You're gonna have no problem meeting cool people, I wouldn't worry about that. Just be safe and take it easy on the druqs if you're alone, that never ends well.

It's my first year and I'm going solo too. I'm volunteering (so I could go for free) and will be camping in Access (very close to Centeroo). I'm bringing an EZ-Up, homemade goulash (portioned and frozen) to share and 2 huge bags of Blow-Pops/suckers to give away. Can't wait to meet some new folks.
