I'm a producer and was thinking about bringing some BeatTapes with me to give out to whoever's interested, and maybe slip a couple to artists after their set. Do you think I'll have a problem bringing a few thin case CDs into Centeroo? I don't think it would be a problem, but I wasn't too sure.
It'll be easy to get in, but most of them will ultimately end up on the ground or in the trash. No disrespect, but if it's the last thing an artist wants it's to be hounded with a beat CD. Maybe make a shirt that says "Free BeatTapes. Ask Me!" You'll have people who are genuinely interested come to you then.

relaxrelapse I'd not "pester" the artists with a CD of your stuff as good as it may be. I've rarely seen that end well! A condescending remark and throwing the CD over their shoulder as they walk away from you is probably the best response you'll get. If you happen to get in a conversation with an artist and you mention that you produce music they may ask you about it. Then it'd be perfectly acceptable to offer a CD, but I would not try to "cold" approach an artist with the soul intention of handing them my music.

The T-shirt thing is a good idea!
Yeah, I had no intentions of just throwing them on stage or just handing them to people. Trust me, I know how annoying that is, and considering I'm not bringing a whole lot it wouldn't be a good idea financially for me haha. The goal is was to give them to some people who were interested on some other forums, and artists if I had a chance to talk to them after their set.
The T-shirt idea is great though! I might have to do that.

I passed out CDs in Centeroo for my friend's band a few years ago. I got only positive responses from everyone I offered them too and security didn't have a problem with it. I'd say I had no more than 50 and they were all in those paper CD holders, not jewel cases.
