I don't really know why I'm posting this here, and feel free to take it down if it's in a bad spot or what not. I just kind of needed a brief venting space.
So, this year is my second roo, I went back in 2010, flew solo, had a great time and have been trying to go back since.
I got tickets to go back this year, with my girlfriend coming along with.
I haven't seen her for about 7 months, as she has been having health problems, and flew up to Canada for the free health care (she's a French citizen)
Well health problems, got diagnosed as leukemia. She was given 5 years, and it has turned into "lucky if she lives a few months". We were still planning on going to Roo together...but I hadnt heard from her since Saturday (very odd in our situation, so I know something is up) and I finally just heard from her brother, sort of, this morning (we are leaving tomorrow at 6 from chicago)
I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that she won't be going with me. Nevermind the fact of trying to resolve that she isn't going to be doing too much else with me ... And I can't go see her, because I've lost my passport.
Oh, and this isnt at all hugely important....but she was also going to choose and bring along all the medicine.
ANYWAY.
Yeah, I was really excited, now I'm trying to hold it all together. Hard to get excited for it anymore.
If anyone out there has some words of advice, positive vibes, things to distract me, prayers (if that's your thing). I'd be glad for all of it.
And if any of you want to possibly meet down on the farm, check out a show together, otherwise distract me, that would be cool as well. I can PM out my number or something or facebook or what not.

I'm sorry you're stuck in such a shizzy situation We have a group of 8 going, you're welcome to meet up with us whenever! We all like having fun and meeting new people! Hopefully you can find some fun at Roo while you're there. I am sure you're girl will be glad to know you're doing what makes ya happy!

I'm having similar feelings today. My best friend's (since I was 7) little sister lost her baby during delivery yesterday morning so it has been really hard to be excited for Roo. I am usually jazzed about packing and running errands to get stuff ready but it just seems like a chore and I have been close to tears the last day and a half as I just cannot stand to see her and their family in so much pain.
Life really sucks sometimes.
Here is the good side of these things - A few years ago, my ex-wife's best friend died the day before a festival we were all suppose to meet at (he lived out of town). But, our group of friends all arrive and setup our campsite and toasted a beer to his honor and decided that he would have wanted us to have the time of our lives so that is exactly what we did. To this day, it is probably the most fun I have had at a festival. Bonnaroo is a time to let all the shit from life that sucks go and have a good time.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

I could set here and write a prose about being positive but I wanna ask one question...
Do you think she would want you to have a good time at Roo?
I understand your situation, but she would want you to go and experience everything you can. Tell her about it, call her, write it all down if you can. Relive these moments with her when you talk to her again. It will be different. perhaps difficult, but I have learned music can move mountains and conquer anything. If you need someone to hang with at Roo, send me a PM and you can hang with me and my crew, or go to Brunch or head to Camp Inforoo where they will be as warm and inviting as they can be (which might be perfect for you).
