Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I am a first time roo-er and I just arrived in Asheville, NC before coming to the festival. I think Asheville is about 4 hours away and I wanted to see if anyone had advice about when I should arrive at Roo? We want close camping but there seems to be conflicting reports. We could get there as early as 11pm on Weds. Will our spot be closer or is it luck of the draw?
Any advice is much appreciated and we will have cookies for everyone at brunch!!

The only guarantee is that they fill up BFE first in order to accommodate VIP arrivals and last minute setup Thursday morning. After BFE fills it's pretty much a crap shoot.
arrive behind the person ahead of you in line and ahead of the person behind you in line, and you will be directed to a pod where you can set up camp. If you walk in the right direction from camp you will reach Centeroo.
Honestly, that is about the best anyone can do as far as explaining the logic.
Avoiding lines and coming in around 3ish on Thur. Fingers crossed for a good RV spot. My buddies literally had a 2 min walk last year following this protocol
So last year I was so nervous that because we were getting there Wednesday around 5-6pm, that we were going to be stuck out in BFE. I mean honestly I couldn't have cared less where we were, because you know it is going to be amazing either way. So we got there around 5 I think, and only had to wait maybe an hour in traffic. We went in the back tollbooth, out where some of the farthest campsites are, and none of them had any tents, so we were happy to see we were not going to be stuck there. We actually got great spots! It was only a 10-12 min walk to Centeroo. And a 5 min walk to all the vendors outside of Centeroo. This year I plan on getting there around the same time, maybe a little earlier.
Last year I got there Wednesday around 10 and got a decent spot, Biff Tannen. If you get there when the gates first open they put you further away from centeroo? Anybody have any info on this? I'd be pissed if this is the case because I plan on getting there around 6 on Wednesday this year.

Yes. In previous years, it seems like they have filled Pod 1 aka BFE first. They then quarantine people in Pod 1, so they can use that road for final staging and prep for the festival and to make sure it is clear for the VIP crowd to use it the next morning. After that, the pattern goes all to hell.
Last year I got there around 2AM Thursday, was put in Camp Lando Calrissian, just behind accessible, near the clocktower... literally a 2 minute walk into Centeroo. Best spot I've had over 3 Roos. Also been put in Camp David Wooderson when I arrived on Thursday afternoon in 2010, and Camp Apollo Creed when I arrived around 4AM Thursday in 2011. There is really no telling where they will send you...
I've been reading this forum for 3 years now and I still don't know what "BFE" means. :/
Butt/Bum Fuck Egypt
Thank you! I knew "Beyond Furthest Entrance" was a backronym, but I couldn't figure out what the "E" stood for. I'll sleep easier tonight now that I know.

This is one of the questions that always amuses me because apparently it's a regional saying. I used the term for years and years before I ever heard it applied to Bonnaroo, but people from other parts of the country have never heard it before.

Yeah, in my part of the midwest (Chicago suburbs), we use the term "Butt Fuck " applied to middle of nowhere (usually referring to the rural areas beyond the burbs), so I figured that's what the BF stood for. Never heard the whole phrase before, however. Thanks for the enlightenment

Military slang thing, IIRC. You know how they love their acronyms: SNAFU; FUBAR, FISHDO.

I'm so glad someone asked this haha I was embarrassed to ask myself.
I arrived around 3am Wednesday night/Thursday morning and ended up camped less than 5 minutes from Centeroo. I'm nervous about this year because we'll be arriving considerably earlier, as we are spending Tuesday night in Nashville. Whatever happens, we'll make the best of it!
