Ive been following the page for a while now but finally joined because i need a hugggeeee favor. I feel like a total loser for doing this but whatever, its better than paying festival beer prices. Last year going to roo i put beer in a couple cases of soda, (cut the flaps open, swap out beer for soda, and glue them back) and all was going well until i was getting searched at the gate someone picks up the soda, handle breaks, and beer cans are everywhere. Long story short and an alcohol citation later my trip started out rough. I know it's last minute but i was hoping maybe someone could help out a 20 year old rooer save his wallet by bringing him a case of beer in? It'd be much appreciated, i'd like to avoid last years events.

Gotta be more careful with the cartons this year. Pull up the side flaps carefully then glue the crap out of them, and DON'T put them in a cooler. Or take Gatorade (or Poweraid, Hawaiian punch, etc.) bottles, pour out some, refill with rum or vodka, reattach the caps with a few small dots of superglue. That, or just prowl the campgrounds asking for beer for sale. By Saturday if not sooner some people will admit that they brought waaay too much beer and be willing to part with some.
But of course you shouldn't do any of that, and I don't condone it, since 20 is far too young to be drinking when not driving! hah

Where are you coming from? I'm just curious, because where I'm from (Ohio), it's perfectly legal for someone over 18 but under 21 to have an unopened case in their car. Now, I'm not sure about that whole crossing state lines bit, but still might be worth looking into.

Really? In Tennessee it is illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to buy, posses or consume any kind of alcoholic beverage. I even got an underage possession of alcohol back in my younger days so trust me that's a fact. Thought that was the norm everywhere.

No, it is definitely 100% not okay for anyone under 21 to acquire or be in possession of drinkable alcohol in Ohio. Having it in your car is no different than having it in your fridge, and Ohio's laws (unlike some states) don't really differentiate between one bottle/can or a multi-pack, while open containers (not meaning boxes/cartons that hold cans or bottles) in a vehicle are illegal regardless of age.
You can process retail transactions of unopened beer, wine and up to 42-proof liquor for off-premises consumption at 18 (I think), and open containers for on-premises consumption at 19, but that's it for anyone under 21. There are no "package" stipulations like in some states where everything must be in a bag or box when leaving the store, nor prohibition of single-serving sizes or 6-packs at retail (I'm looking at you, Pennsylvania). Local communities are free to ban it, via denying state-required licenses, or limit the types of licenses, but few do. Ohio's laws are pretty liberal for beer, so it is available at most gas stations, convenience stores, and supermarkets, in whatever size and proof you can get anywhere, but you've still got to be 21 to possess it even if you aren't actually drinking it.
Part of my job is to maintain compliance with liquor laws, and I also have some legal and law enforcement education, oddly enough. I just don't want any young Ohioans (or those visiting, say for All Good***) to get into trouble thinking an unopened case is okay. The fuzz may use their discretion at times to let under-agers go with warnings and confiscation if they aren't driving or aren't obviously intoxicated (the kids I mean, since coppers are notorious drinky-drivers), but don't count on talking your way out of something with loopholes that don't appear to exist.
***If you happen to be coming to Ohio for All Good, be especially careful in Columbus if it is on your way. Lots of work zones that are heavily revenue-enforced - which I noticed way too late. Yeah, I got a ticket for 57 in a 45mph zone on my way to Bonnarooo. 45 on a freakin' interstate, in a work zone that was apparently NOT active at the time and was otherwise 55. I'd literally never seen a 45mph zone on an interstate, only seen 50 and 55 before. And they use motorcycle cops who will even pull over multiple vehicles at a time (jerk was hiding behind a minivan he had already pulled over), comment on where you are from, and don't let you ask or even answer questions. Yeah, I'm salty and ranting, cause I can't make the court date to fight it, don't really have the funds to pay it, it was my first ticket in 20+ years of driving, and I really thought I was going pathetically slow enough while being tailgated by an 18-wheeler that was freaking me out.
