I had the most amazing time at Bonnaroo 2013, and by day 1 I had already compiled a mental list of what I would do differently. Here is what I can remember thinking while I was there...
-Don’t bring tons of water, bring a good water bottle with a clip/carabiner, the water in Centeroo is cold, delicious, and FREE. -Make sure your camelback doesn’t leak. Ugh. -Be nice to your camping neighbors! Especially while waiting in the car entry line to get in bc the car in front/behind you will probably be your neighbors for 4 days. -Get the hot guy/girls' number! -Don’t bring frozen food without a grill or a way to keep it frozen. -Produce/fruit WILL SPOIL QUICKLY. -Bring extra blankets for chilly nights. -WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES!!! Break them in before hand… fuck Crocs. -Bring backless shoes and tons of bandaids in the event of blisters. -Throw your schedule out the window, try and see as many bands as possible. -ARRIVE EARLY (WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON/EVENING), LEAVE LATE (SUNDAY NIGHT). -Rent an RV if possible. -Consider getting a VIP ticket. -RENT A LOCKER! It will keep your phone charged, and let you skip the line (‘A’ entry). Plus you get your $20 deposit back when you turn your key in ($20 = extra merch money or food money... or gas money). FYI: you may very well be broke by Sunday. -Put wine/beer/food in a cooler in the locker (bc its way closer to Centeroo than your campsite). -When you leave your campsite for Centeroo be prepared to stay in Centeroo! -Don’t waste money on shitty food. Get food from Spicy Pie, The Cracked Egg food truck, and Goatocado. -Get all the free samples & swag possible. Its FREE. -Cell phone charging stations are always packed, but they were located at the Ford fiesta tent, the apples to apples tent, and random outlets can be found near the water tank thingies. I'm guessing this changes every year... -Plan on not showering unless you want to pay $7 or bring a pop-up shower tent thing. Or shower in the fountain in Centeroo. -LADIES: invest in a Go Girl (aka silicone penis), it will be your new best friend, as you will not have to sit to pee... just like the guys. -If you want to be up close at the What Stage, get in line on the right or left sides up front to get in the pit. -WATCH YOUR ELBOWS: there are short people around you in a crowd that don’t want to be elbowed in the face. -Don’t get your boobs painted and walk around shirtless unless you want negative attention. Just sayin. -Bring your own toilet paper, chances are the portapotties wont have any. Also, baby wipes. Cant stress this enough. -A travel sized spray bottle of Fabreeze was also nice to have. -Forget underwear, just wear a bathing suit and call it a day. -Don’t get sunburned on the first day, that is so unfortunate. -STAY HYDRATED ALWAYS. Alcohol is a dehydrator, as well as smoking. Be smart. -Take really good care of your feet. -POD 3 has better shopping than Centeroo. -Don’t play shitty music in your campsite really loud late at night/early in the morning unless you want everyone to hate you. -BE RESPECTFUL. -Don’t worry about your phone so much bc it will most likely be dead most of the time… hence, bring digital or disposable camera. Do they still make disposable cameras?! -You won’t spend as much time at your campsite as you think, don’t over do it on food/drinks. -Prepare for rain. -Prepare for blistering hot days and then freezing cold nights. -Stop screaming “woooooooo!” for no good reason, its kind of annoying. We can just assume we are all having a good time. Save your voice for shows. This is not a frat party. -Smile at strangers, it creates a good vibe. -Be responsible about drugs, make sure you have someone looking out for your best interest. -People will try to sell you drugs, again, be smart about it and remember that you don’t REALLY know what you’re putting in your body. -See a comedy show (or 2), you’ll stand in line forever getting a ticket, then you’ll stand in line to get in, you’ll miss some bands, but at least you get to tell everyone you saw Daniel Tosh ? -Be open minded and open hearted, and have fun at all costs.

1. You're very inconsistent. 2. Ladies, feel free to wear all the body paint you want. Some of us appreciate it in a completely positive way.
I have a few things to add that I learned as a new 'Roo-er.
1. If you want to enjoy your own beverages inside Centeroo, get a regular-looking backpack that also has a laptop compartment that opens from the side. It neatly doubles as an insulated cooler, and mine held up to 8 cans of my beverage of choice without ever being noticed by the bag checkers. 2. If you're there primarily for Centeroo, don't overdo it on the campsite supplies. We stuck with pop tarts and beef jerky for breakfast, and pbjs and Clif bars for snacks/lunch once inside, and bought dinner in Centeroo (Spicy Pies twice!).
Following up on the above, baby wipes rock, and comfy shoes are a must. Regarding the topless ladies with body paint, my only comment is that the body paint isn't a requirement, feel free to let them fly. Topless equality for all!
Again... This post is about MY personal Roo experience and what was going through my mind at the time. If I'm inconsistent then there's proof that I'm human if you don't agree, create your own list!

Had a great time at my first roo
1. figure out how not to get put in POD 11 Stewie Griffin 2. bring more cheap beer, to hot for the good beer ( i drank like like 1 yeungling light for every 5 Busch lights) 3. See more bands, wife got a bad sunburn friday morning (yes we used sunscreen but it didnt work for her I guess need high SPF for her) 4. COMFY SHOESm, i knew my shoes sucked and I paid the price with blisters and swollen feet 5. Eat more SPICEY PIE 6. try to stop in at more vendors selling things 7. DO NOT plop down on a camping chair and not expect to collapse through it 8. Be closer for the headliners, was about half way out for petty and paul which was good but im used to better 9. pay the 12 dollars for the clean toliet band on thursday, well worth it to never have to go into a porta john 10. EAT MORE SPICEY PIE !!!
Well I figured it was time for me to sign up for inforoo since I finally did my first Roo. God I had so much fun. I made a jar when I got home to put money in for next year. I doubt next year will go as well. I was camped in Chewbacca which was like 10 minutes from Centeroo. All my neighbors were awesome, and I avoided sunburn! BUT next time I shall:
1) Bring air mattress or extra padding for sleeping bag. My hips were well sore from sleeping on my sides. 2) Mini cooler to carry around the camping area to meet other folks. The giant cooler does not work well for this. 3) Pain killers. Walking around in TOMS all day and especially after Death Grips really was crucial on the dogs. 4) Talk to more people. I am generally very shy but was coming out of my shell more at Bonnaroo. Which means I can get the "hot girls" number haha. 5) Try to get into a pit for a show I would really like to see. 6) Eat at every food truck. I tried this year but did not succeed. 7) Make a goofy flag for my campsite even if I do not need it 8) CROWD SURF (i've never done it) 9) Bring disposable cameras. Even if the pictures are crap it will be a surprise and the good ol cellular will die eventually. 10) Dance with random girl(s), must figure out how to approach this first.

I'm sorry, what is this "clean toilet band" you speak of? Is this a real thing? Do they hide these clean toilets?! Is this witchcraft? It sounds like sorcery to me...sorcery I am all about.
Also, not my first rodeo by any means but I still learned a valuable lesson this year, make sure you check the expiration date on your sunblock. Even unopened it won't work. I got a little pink on Thursday/Friday before we investigated the bottle. It wasn't painful and was gone by Sunday but it could have made for a miserable roo if we hadn't caught it and switched to one of our other bottles.

it was like a trailer with 2 urinals and 2 stalls in it and had AIR CONDITIONING and it was maintained and clean, at the front of pod 10 near the pizza vendor. 3 bucks per trip or 12 bucks unlimited
the guy operating said it was there first year at bonnaroo and I asked if they were doing pretty well and he said yes, so hopefully they will be back WELL WORTH THE MONEY

I also plan to make better use of the resource that is Inforoo and its users, and try to get to the brunch next year. All of you were incredibly helpful with my first 'Roo as I lurked for the two weeks between the time I discovered the site and made the trip. Thanks!
1) don't bring anyone underage unless you collect alcohol money on day 1. 2) don't try to hide your party favors in a coffee can in the parking lot of Walmart...even if there are heinous rumors of drug sniffing dogs. 3) don't arrive on Wednesday night thinking you'll get better camping. 4) go VIP. 5) don't get excited at the shower trailers (guys) when there's no line - there is a reason for this. Just go to BP near Walmart- an extra $0.68 but sooooooo worth it. 6) buy those boots you had your eye on, they're worth the $24. 7) always give bag checkers at centeroo free hugs. 8) don't be limited by the schedule you made 3 weeks before Bonnaroo, you're not going to follow it no matter how anal you are in the real world. 9) bring fans. 10) a good sun hat will absolutely change your Roo experience in every way. 11) no binge drinking before high sun.

I was literally told by multiple people at Roo that I was the whitest person they had seen there. I managed to go the whole weekend without a sunburn! Neutrogena Dry Touch lotion in SPF 70+ or higher in the morning, followed by Neutrogena Ultra Sheer spray in SPF 70 twice more during the day (I usually showered about 10am and applied lotion then. I sprayed down around 2pm and 5pm). I PROMISE it will work.
This wasn't my first year, but here are my lessons learned:
1) Bring gum to chew for when your mouth gets really dry. Don't use gum as a substitute for drinking enough water. 2) Educate yourself on the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. If it hits you, you'll be very confused, so you'll want to know them backwards and forwards. Make sure your WHOLE GROUP knows them and is watching out for each other. This is the biggest issue at Roo! I am always careful, but I still got it this year! 3) Don't purchase Shakedown party favors. Don't purchase them anywhere NEAR Shakedown. 4) Don't let anything (ANYTHING) touch the sides of your tent, either inside or outside. This creates breaches in your tent's water resistance, allowing water to come into your tent. 5) Carry around mini-bottles of booze (stuff that can be drank straight, not mixers) and hand them out to volunteers as you're walking around. Tell them thank you. You can try it with staff too, but they're less likely to take it. Show appreciation to all the people that work their donkeys off so that you don't know how much work goes into running the festival. I have heard that Roo has upwards of 25k staff and volunteers. That is more than one worker for every four guests! That's huge!

This one about breast painting I dont agree with breast painting is a huge part of roo and they did it to raise money for breast cancer in 2011. Maybe you don't like it but you shouldn't tell people its a negative thing to stop them from trying it. I do it every year and this year i used latex body paint and got several girls to try and it was an awesome positive experience!!!

Arriving on wednesday is cool but because there are no shows what do people have to do ..sit at there sites and get f@cked up. I think leaving on Sunday night is super dangerous if you absoluty have to then you have to but after spending 4 days in the heat and dust and dirt and getting no sleep and its sunday most people if not drinking have done something(I know this isnt true for all). Once you get in your car and start driving away and your a/c hits you give about an hour you start physically crashing. On Sunday when I am in my tent I dread the sound of ambulances. get a good night sleep on sunday and leave mon if possible

On the fruit and produce thing - keep them in your cooler and keep'em iced. I bought my produce last Monday and it is all still good and I am still working on finishing them. I have an apple and pear with me today for lunch that I took to Roo.
I also have a small lunch box that I carried fruit with me in Centeroo in my backpack. I kept an Orange, Pear, Banana, and Apple with me and forced myself to finish all four during my trips inside which were usually 3 to 4 hours at a time.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.
