This was my 3rd Bonnaroo, the others having been 06 and 07, so it was a while. I noticed there seemed to be a ton more barefoot people than before. I don't mean hanging out on a blanket or just going through the fountain. People were EVERYWHERE with no sign of shoes, including on the pavement in the camps and gravel too. I wonder if people were tougher-soled or maybe there were a lot of lost/broken shoes? Time of day didn't seem to matter.Considering what all can be on the ground, I know I wouldn't try it, but to each his/her own.
I wandered around barefoot for a while. No problems.
If you mainly wear Crocs, as I do, there's very little practical difference between the shoes and your bare feet. Just a layer of cushioning. All that crap on the ground is going to wind up on the soles of your feet anyway; the trick is in not thinking about it.
