The smoked gouda mac & cheese seemed to be a popular favorite this year. Right outside the side gate.
That sounds amazing
It was. I've said this before, but festival food is hilarious. It's like a big psychology experiment. For when you're straight there's tofu sprout low-carb gluten-free pita with organic non-peanut oil dressing, and for when you're twisted there's hot fried pasteurized cheese food product on white bread with a side of ranch sauce.

I thought the Thurman Murman I had last year was better than this year. I also thought maybe there was too much kimchi. My absolute favorite Roo food is the pesto mozzadilla. I also tried the pretzel from the Amish donut place and thought that was really good.

Love the Spicy Pie, Gnarly Marly is my favorite. Although, I got one Thursday and then every time I went Friday and the first half of Saturday, they were sold out so I had to get something different. Finally, got another Gnarly Marley on Saturday and then three times on Sunday. I think I had 8 or 9 slices all weekend.
Also, had a Fried Avocado Taco from one of the trucks which was amazing but $7 for a regular sized taco was a little much.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

Thurman Murman is sooo much better than spicy pie. It is not even close. Spicy Pie is only semi good when you are drunk off you butt.
Gotta agree on the Spicy Pie. I've seen the signs for years and have heard great things, but never tried it until this year and was extremely disappointed. Maybe I'm spoiled being from Buffalo, but I was not impressed. I can think of at least 10 other stands/food trucks more worth my money
It wasnt horrible, but in no way stood out in my mind other than being way overpriced for a normal sized slice

Anybody try out Pie for the People? Better than Spicy Pie in my opinion, and they even let me have it for a dollar less cause I was running short on $1s at the time.

Last year Pie for The People was my go-to food spot but I missed them this year. I do agree, they're better than Spicy Pie.

Actually man, I only got to them once this year (and I was with you when I got it). At that time, granted it was early morning, they weren't as good as they normally were. Then every other time I wanted some Pie for the People, the line was too long and they weren't putting out the food fast enough. First half of the weekend, all the Spicy Pie tasted like crap but I got lucky the second half of the weekend and the Spicy Pie stands were actually really good for once. So it was like a bizarro world this year for pizza vendors.
Still, Pie for the People was consistently on point last year.
I did not go to Roo this year, but I am enjoying this thread of food talk. Thurman Murman was amazing at bear creek, sorry to hear it was just okay at Roo for some of you. I have expressed my love for the ABC doughnuts and how good they are! Funking tasty! Jelly rolls?! What? Damn I missed these? I have been trying to find these for over a year now. I love a Jerry roll.
I do agree with the I heart spicy pie. I agree, it is just pizza. I mean even bad pizza is still good to me. Nothing about spicy pie stands out to me, it is just pizza. I think i could sell digiorno pizza and people would be amazed. Just because it is bread and cheese. Look for the place with the brick oven. They have good pie!
Notes: smoked Gouda Mac n chz? I like the sound of this!
Also, anyone got more info on the grilled cheese with japs and guacamole? This sounds dee lious!
