Update: My Morning Jacket has grown on me quite a bit. Still not a fanboy, but I appreciate and enjoy a lot of their music now. Still have a few albums to listen to tho
This is how I was with them too. Took a decent amount of repeated exposure to really get into them, but I think it was worth it. Even after seeing them live I still don't think they deserve the amount of love they get on here, but I'm glad I took the time to listen to them.
Yep they took a little while to grow on me as well. And still don't think I have ever loved one of their albums on the first listen. And Jazmo while your making friends why don't you tell us how you felt about Darkside show in 2014.
As for me
Death Grips Beatles (not sure if I should put the in front or not) Empire of the Sun Mac DeMarco

I want to like this so much because of The Beatles being on there, but I just can't.

I enjoyed it? Lol I don't think it was Holy Grail of Late Night like a lot of people think, but it was a good show. We can definitely add Nick Cave to my list though.
Edit: Looked through my post history to see why you thought I didn't like Darkside... I admittedly did say the show was disappointing, but that was because I had been convinced they were gonna be a dance party and they weren't. It was still an enjoyable show but it wasn't was I was expecting, and I'd have enjoyed it more had I not been in such a dancy mood. Having listend to their album quite a lot since then I'd probably enjoy their show a lot more now, but unfortunately it looks like that ship has sailed.

Ah, sorry thought you said that you were disappointed by them. Maybe it was someone else.

Morrissey: I can't stand the sound of his voice. Parrquet Courts: I just don't get them. I really liked Fergus & Geronimo but this band is so meh. Venom: I always thought their music sounded amateurish. St. Vincent: The first time me and my wife separated is when she became a fan of her music. So, whenever I hear her music the emotions from that time come back. Wilco (post Yankee Hotel Foxtrot): This band lost A LOT when they kicked Jay Bennett out.
Vampire Weekend Alabama Shakes U2 Dave Matthews - not loved around here but in America overall they are Pearl Jam (as Jaz mentioned earlier, there really is a difference for me between bands I actively dislike and those that I just don't particularly like, and PJ is the latter for me)
I get that coming into this thread is kind of a masochistic activity and one should come with mental preparation to feel disheartened by others' lists, but I'm honestly shocked by how many people have listed Neutral Milk Hotel; almost every music lover friend I have concurs that In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is one of the most genius albums of the past 20 years. I get not loving his voice, but man - the instrumentals, the lyrics...
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
The Biggie hate on here the over the last 12 hours has the hate flowing through me as well:
Arcade Fire - Ive tried so hard to like them Foo Fighters - Don't actively dislike them but I'm not sipping that Grohl kool aid Muse Neutral Milk Hotel - has never clicked for me Avett Brothers - boring Tupac - actually overrated Iceage Warpaint
That's enough... for now (:<
Agree with you on all of these except for NMH and the Avetts. I don't know what this says about you, but it doesn't bode well.
Tupac is pretty overrated as well (and is definitely technically subpar in comparison to Biggie), but I always liked his music more. I've enjoyed Biggie's albums and they certainly have their place in hip-hop history but I don't think either of them are GOAT.
hold on. you think the national, bon iver, spoon, and the decemberists are boring yet you loove NMH and avetts?
I'm not judging your choices (jk I am a bit), but I'm more so having trouble understanding your music tastes. I feel like a fan of NMH and avetts should enjoy, or at the very least not find those artists "boring"
When can we talk the about music I've loved that all of you pseudo-hipsters hate? I'll praise late 90's butt-rock all day if it means differing from you.

ehh, but they also got a Nels Cline. I call that trading up.

It's cool, I'm used to being judged, if you couldn't tell. And ftr I only said The National and Bon Iver are boring - the other two I'm just not crazy about. I can see someone making the case for the Avetts being boring, but not NMH. Aeroplane is a folkadelic carousel of an album with spectacular (if at times admittedly near-impossible to grasp) lyrics and evocative imagery. It's dynamic with rousing horns, warbly saws, and a metric fuckton of emotion. Very, very far from boring.
It's hard for me to make such a case for the Avetts, but I think they have a wonderful knack for melody and harmony, and their lyrics, while simple, can be pretty impactful.
I've listened to a decent amount of Bon Iver, but have no fucking clue what he's singing. It's pretty, but I can't connect with it. He's good to put on when I need to be gently lulled to dreamland. And I actually really like The National's lyrics, but I just don't like the guy's voice. It stirs nothing within me. Spoon and the Decemberists I've listened to only a handful of times and nothing ever stood out to me, so I stopped listening.
I don't think I have a very pigeonholeable taste in music.

I've come around on a few that I use to hate... The National, Wilco and LCD Soundsystem. I still hate Kanye, Arcade Fire, Animal Collective. I'm sure there are some others but I can't think of any right now.

I've heard people say that about matt berninger of the national. have you seen them live? I had never heard of them before and stumbled upon their set at lolla '08 and that's when I fell in love. (same with radiohead. though I obviously didn't stumble upon that one. really, that fest just made me fall in love with festivals in general. anyway...)
and same with bon iver - seen them live before? pretty sure their show I saw in 2011 was the first concert I ever cried at.
seeing a live show can very much make or break my love for an artist.

And that has been something that has confused me. I loved Jeff Tweedy's songs before he started working with Jay and I loved Nels' stuff with The Geraldine Fibbers, Mike Watt and Carla Bozulich. But I lost a lot of interest in Wilco after he joined the band. I don't know. Maybe every time I heard it I was just in a bad mood.

and yes. your music taste confuses me.
Nope, haven't seen any of them live. I may have seen a teeny bit of Bon Iver after leaving the Shins in 2012, but I don't really remember it regardless. I would like to see Radiohead one day though, just to see if it makes a difference in my relative ambivalence towards them. I started watching their Roo set a while back and enjoyed it; I might have to give that another go soon.

I think Bon Iver is mostly boring but I enjoy a few tracks, love the National though. I think it's possible to enjoy one but not the other.
Still not a fan of the Cure but that's more for arbitrary reasons
I can't get into Depeche Mode
Tupac is kind of lame
Being as young as you are, and the fact that you didn't grow up listening to the Cure and Depeche Mode, I can kinda excuse those two, KINDA. It just makes me super sad that you feel that way.
