I can't see these guys enough and since I missed them in 2008 I would love to see them on the Farm. Given the evolving nature of the fest, and Petty on Sunday signalling a change to Sunday perhaps, I would love to see them close it out for 2.5-3 hours
When they announced the Wrigley and London shows, they said they would be announcing a fall tour soon. I haven't seen any dates. I think this countdown is going to be about the new album.

I wonder why they seem to avoid Colorado grrr. I saw them up at CU at the basketball stadium with Eddie jumping from the 2nd level to crowd surf, Lolla climb not exaggerating 35 foot or more up to the top of the stage ? But alas no Co date VooDoo anyway... cr****
As far as repeat headliners go this is one I could get down with, I saw them 9/16/95 in Austin and it absolutely rocked. I was 17 then and climbed a tree in South Park meadows in Austin and watched the show from there, good times man good times,
last 2 have not been great either. Riot Act was their last great album. That said, they still kill it live. They have too large of a catalog to just play the new songs, tho I'm sure they throw 5-6 in at least. I've only seen then twice, last time being 4 years ago. I need my fix! Make it happen.

I missed '08, and the only time i've seen them was was in East Troy, Wisconsin in 2000. It was below freezing for most of the show. It'd be nice to see them again, this time trying to not get dehydrated from the heat instead of trying not to freeze.

Riot Act is great, but I think Avocado is a great record as well. I believe it stacks up with their best

It's gonna take a lot for me to give you any credibility after a statement like that. Have you not listened to any of their records that were released in the 90's? You can't say the self titled album compares to any of those. At best, the Self tittled album is their best since riot act. Their best work is over a decade behind them, your statement has enraged me sir. I likely won't get any sleep tonight. THANKS!

Well the cool thing about music is that it's subjective. I find Riot Act to be way too mellow for me and it drags on. I don't think it flows very well song to song and it's way too long. I believe Lightning Bolt and Avocado both bring more out of the band than Riot Act did. Riot Act is extremely solid (as are all their albums) but it falls between Binaural and Avocado and it is neither of those albums. Avocado is a brilliant and emotional album. It contains some of their best songs in my opinion. Life Wasted, Inside Job, Comatose. I'm glad you're passionate about PJ. It makes for great conversation.
I would personally rank their albums as follows. This is just one man's opinion.
1. Binaural 2. No Code 3. Vitalogy/Vs 5. Yield/Ten/Avocado 8. Lighting Bolt/Riot Act 10. Back Spacer
If you think their best work is behind them then you are close minded. Never doubt a band as talented as them.

I'm not closed minded at all. I believe this band created their best music in the 90's. I'll follow that with "in my opinion if I have to, but even your list suggests the same. For the record, I mostly agree with your rankings. I'd put Ten a few spots higher, riot act above "avocado" and yeah, pretty much. Also for the record, I do enjoy the self titled album, it does not suck, it's just not on the same playing field as anything they did in the 90's, as you also seem to agree. Now I'm going to go listen to that album and find ways to agree with you, but I won't come back and tell you that you're right. Because were both right.

Dude. He has Binaural number one. BINAURAL. NUMBER ONE. The album that is generally a given for the bottom 2 or 3 in any ranking of their discography. And he has it above Vs., No Code, Ten, and Vitalogy, plus Yield! How can you "mostly agree" with that?
You people are going to give me a brain aneurysm.
I wasn't focusing an anything else besides the topic at hand, and don't feel like debating complete album rankings right now, just pointing out my stance on their last 4 most recent albums. I've never actually tried ranking their albums, I just have an idea of which ones are better than others. I'll give it a shot and give my follow up later
