Yes. Please explain your decision to rank "Binaural," the dregs of their late-90's output (I am aware it was released in 2000), number one.
Here's ten reasons.
1. Breakerfall 2. God's Dice 3. Light Years 4. Nothing as it Seems 5. Thin Air 6. Insignificance 7. Of The Girl 8. Grievance 9. Sleight of Hand 10. Parting Ways
It's the album the band had been waiting a decade to write. The album they were wishing they could write. Also, Matt Cameron.

Funny, those are the ten reasons I would give as the reasons it's a terrible album.
This is a great quote from Steven Hyden: "I once had a conversation with this guy about Pearl Jam in which he claimed that the band's best era was 1998 to 2002. This is the sort of argument a person makes after digesting so much of a particular artist's work that it has driven him to the brink of insanity. It's like saying, 'You know, Raging Bull and Goodfellas are solid, but they pale in comparison to Scorsese's output from 1997 to 2002.'"
I could understand making an argument for Binaural as not the worst Pearl Jam album ever, but as the best? That's insanity. I'd probably slot it above Riot Act and Lightning Bolt (Breakerfall and Grievance are both pretty solid songs), and maybe on par with Pearl Jam, but to have it above Vs., Ten, Vitalogy, No Code, or Yield is just insanity.
Without a doubt their best era was 1993-2000. Binaural is my favorite Pearl Jam album and I think it's their best work. No Code is right behind it, it is a master piece. That is my opinion. No matter what crap you type on your keyboard, it is not going to change. So instead of crucifying me for it maybe realize that the way we appreciate music in different ways is a beautiful thing. Just because OTHER people generally rank it bottom two or three makes you think that way? Dude, think for yourself, embrace the music yourself. Don't let the general consensus of other people dictate the way you experience the music. It's sad.

You're mistaking my citing the general consensus re: the quality of these albums as some sort of rationale I'm relying on to support my own beliefs, which is false. I don't think it's a very good album because, well, it's not a very good album. I was merely using a commonly held opinion to illustrate a point.
You are also mistaken in your belief that all opinions are valid. Many are terrible and should be excoriated accordingly.
Well it's a good thing I don't care what other people think I guess.
I love Binaural. but I love all of their albums. I think the new one is great.
I think LB is great too. It took a few listens and seeing all but two of the songs live really helped I think too. Solid is the best word to describe it. Front to back, just solid. Definitely a step up from Backspacer. A lot of dark themes, powerful moments. A lot of bands wish they could make a tenth album this good I feel.
One of the best bands to see live right now (gotta admit that I am a PJ junkie, growing up in the 90s and all). This would be the Bonnaroo headliner to top all other headliners for me.

Matt Cameron, the drummer for PJ and drummer for Soundgarden will be in Europe over the summer as Soundgarden is touring with Black Sabbath. So there are three bands you can cross off the 2014 line-up.

PJ European Tour doesn't start until June 16th. Soundgarden is opening for Black Sabbath in Germany on June 8th, 11th and 13th.
Yes, and Matt Cameron will not be with them thus having no bearing on Pearl Jam being at Roo. While it's may be unlikely that Pearl Jam would squeeze in Roo before going to Europe, it's does not rule them out.
Pearl Jam have definitely done the, "not our full gear on stage or stage setup" thing prior to a big tour in another country, so I think it's totally doable in a Friday or Saturday slot.
Anyways, would love to see them. They are on FIRE right now. My daughter and I saw them at the Wrigley show - insane (well, even the actual show ended up being insane -- but my 9 year old toughed it out all the way to the very 2-3am end!)
