If you don't like them don't bother posting something derogatory. For the good people who love the jam like I do, I'm looking forward to the possibility of some Panic on the farm like the good ole times. Seen a few Panic shows recently, Including Oak Mountain Night I and II and they have been hitting an awesome stride.
Wish they would've played this song, but they played plenty others that were flat out incredible. Rebirtha>Coconuts>Fish H20 was mind blowing.
They are going into the studio in the winter for a new album, at least that's the word.
The white wizard, Jimmy Herring has been tearing it up.
They tore up Oak Mountain last weekend, was an awesome show. would be good as usual. Maybe stick 'em in a late night which spot.
Yeha dude like I would love to see them headline, but I'm a big fan. I would be very excited with a late night set though forsure! It would have to be at night though..
Would love to see Panic on the farm. I've only been to the past two Roo's, so I haven't had a chance to see them there yet. Was at Oak Mountain night 2, was an amazing show.
I'm pretty much guaranteed two shows a year at Wanee so it's not such a big issue with me. It would be fun to see them headline again just to piss off the haters.

Yeah, that oughta do it.
I actually don't hate Widespread Panic - and I bet that most people who frequently express their "oh God, please not Widespread" type emotions don't either. It's more a case of overkill - 2 headlining shows in 2002, headlined in 2003, two shows in 2005, headlined in 2007, 2008, 2011...I think people just got really, really sick of them. I mean, they've headlined six out of twelve years that the festival has been held, and out of the 36 possible "headlining" shows, they've taken 8. If Bonnaroo was cycling through the jamband headliners with the same frequency that they do the other headliners, I doubt people would care much.
While you make a valid point, how many people were actually there for years 2002,2003,2005 that were not huge panic fans already? They were a majority there for the first year or two probably. I agree with you though that obviously they have played Bonnaroo many times, but considering they were the first big act Bonnaroo ever got I think it is fitting they play often. Of course, they don't have to headline, but I would be ok with that obviously

i was one of the few folks that was not a panic fan, and yeah i was a minority in the beginning. but i always knew what i was getting into and still pulled the trigger. wsp and bonnaroo have been linked from the beginning and there's still a place for them there. how about they are the first band to ever play the which on thursday night in 2014 as a way to honor the history that wsp and roo have together and to give them a prominent spot even though they are not quite headliners anymore?

I want them there but as a late night Which instead of a Sunday headliner. I think it would make a lot of other people happy, and it would clear up a possible schedule conflict for me and keep Sunday open for something fresh.
I feel like billing it as a "Special Huge Late Night" would make it seem fresher than just the same ol' Sunday headlining slot.

I think for those who weren't necessarily there in 2002-2005, Widespread Panic just became shorthand for hating Bonnaroo's practice of cramming the same 3-4 "jam" acts on Sunday night every year. It wasn't necessarily WSP that people didn't like, but rather the fact that Bonnaroo seemed committed to recycling the same tired few acts every couple years. If Sunday had been treated like any other day since, say, 2006 or so, I doubt it would have been such an issue.
Gotcha, makes sense to me.
Seems like a lot of people want to see them late night which stage. Thursday night which stage would be a crazy change and would be an amazing way to celebrate roo and WSP like bluelikehail said. Honest to God the more I think about it the more it needs to happen Thursday night. I mean seriously this year was ridiculous trying to move from tent to tent...it was way too packed. This would help move some folks around

I think that is a hell of an idea. WSP is not my favorite jam band. I really dont want a Sunday Night wasted on them. But an 11:30-2:00 Which Stage Thursday would definitely be something I'd stop and check out to close out my Thursday. It would be great to pay homage to them as you said, and create less congestion around Centeroo on Thursday too.
A Thursday night headliner would create congestion getting into Bonnaroo. We'd be back to ten hour waits. And the crowding for WSP Thursday night at Which stage would be terrible.

really? i just don't see how either of those things would happen. people wouldn't be jammed at the gates wednesday night for a band starting in around 24 hours. the crowds need spread out on thursday and i would bet most rooers now are not going to attend a full wsp set.

Very insightful analysis. I don't often agree with Larry Farnsworth but in this case he is most likely entirely correct. I agree whole heartedly. I really enjoy the panic and the first time I saw them was in 05 at jazz fest in NOLA. I would like to see them get a late night which, but only if they fix the sound so I can hear them far enough back to have room to dance.

I agree...im not sure why this would cause ccongestion.
