A "little," if you are not aware, is a faithful listener to the Tony Kornheiser (of ESPN's PTI show) radio show from Washington, DC. He and other celebs are bigs; the rest of us are littles. Curiously, most of the listeners are not in DC, but listen via podcast all over the globe.
If you've ever heard the show, you will know that one of the highlights is the listener contribution, "Mr. Tony's Mailbag." Here, the host reads emails (and faxes or notes, if they exist) sent since the previous show, and they are usually at least as funny as the show itself. Writers capitalize on recent themes from the show, as well as email memes (What does your neighbor do? What's in your pocket? What was for lunch? How do you get to work?)
I bring this up because Bonnaroo got a mention in the mailbag. I am WAAAAYYYY behind in my podcasts, but immediately after Bonnaroo, someone wrote in and mentioned they were a "little" who attended Bonnaroo. The story? Upon approaching the tollbooth search area, one of the searchers noticed the "TK" sticker on the back bumper of the vehicle. He asked if the driver were a little. Upon confirmation, he extended the TK salute (an extended middle finger), which was returned by the driver. "These guys are alright," the searcher said. The writer alleged this gave them premium camping position (which seems completely implausible) and a quick vehicle inspection (which seems like the normal experience).
The writer then explained their path to work, which included turns at different tents and/or half-naked campers.
While not the greatest email ever, it made me laugh, even 2 months after the event.
Had no idea what you were talking about here but the story was neat. I always love to hear about Bonnaroo connection stories. You know, those little connections you may find with a fellow Roo'er who may have otherwise been an unnoticed stranger. I like it.
