A few of us are thinking of making the trek down from Toronto to AK for Waka this summer. For those of you that have been in the past, could you shed some light on what this festy is like? Ive heard a ton of great "second hand" feedback from people, but any additional info would be appreciated.

Thanks.
The scenery is beautiful...the fest itself has a really small, laid back feel.....there are a lot of "wooks" that go to it that seem like they're way more into drugs than music....its a lot smaller than Roo obviously, and not as much about the music since waka doesn't get as many big names.

Also, can anyone that has made the trip before tell me what would be the approximate cost of Wakarusa+Bonnaroo including cheap car rental, gas, and tickets, and basic living supplies (Tent, toiletries, sun tent, flashlights, and cold cuts)?
I have it at about 1.2k, but I could be lowballing it.

This isn't very helpful info pertaining to your question, but info nonetheless: I always volunteer at both to get a free ticket...the trip from Waka to Bonnaroo takes about 6 or 7 hours, luckily they're back to back weekends this year!

Yeah, I realized that soon after posting. Didn't even provide a location. I'd be coming in from Miami, and living as cheaply as possible for those two weeks.

The drive from one to the other wouldn't really be a problem though, seeing as how there are 3 days in between Wakarusa ending and Roo campgrounds opening.

STS9, Umphrey's, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Lettuce, Dr. Dog, Papadosio... good start for Wakarusa. I'm not going but I'm expecting Roo to share more artists with Waka this year compared to last year. Pretty confident Umphrey's, Dr. Dog, and Papadosio will all be at Roo.
STS9 Umphrey’s McGee Michael Franti & Spearhead Lettuce Dr. Dog Papadosio Cherub BoomBox DJ Snake Moon Taxi Turnpike Troubadours Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers St. Paul and The Broken Bones Alvin Risk The Knocks iLL.GATES Phutureprimitive Break Science The Hood Internet Moon Hooch Leagues Wild Child Uncle Lucius Mountain Standard Time Mountain Sprout Dirtfoot Mike Dillon’s Band of Outsiders Rusty Shackle Treetop Flyers Thriftworks Buku Up Until Now
I'm really digging Uncle Lucius and Wild Child. Have seen/heard almost all of the other artists. I'm pretty stoked for this year. A lot of people were upset last year given the weather/cancellations/etc... This year will make up for it, and with it being a week later hopefully the weather will be warm and sunny. Waka Waka! Let's see what round 2 brings tomorrow.
Really hoping Allman Brothers are one of the four on the top line left to announce. Otherwise, I might be traveling to New York in March. I'm assuming the other three are Flaming Lips, Primus, & Trey Anastasio Band until something else happens.
Word on the streets is Cheese will be the top headliner come next week. But that's tossed around every year.
I could see that because that would stick to what seems to be their headliner formula of one edm act (Bassnectar), more "currently popular band" (The Flaming Lips), and then a jam band.

Keep the Wolves Away, such a good song!...I'm loving this second lineup announcement!
WOW Waka is bringing the Heat! Now I'm over the top convinced this is going to be a stellar summer. See you all on the Mtn, my crazy crew will be in RV Reserved at site 20 -- right along the road. Stop by and say High
Loving this lineup so far! I was thinking I was going to drop a festival this year, but it looks like Waka's not it! Just saw a FB post about FREE WEDNESDAY ARRIVAL for Riverside Camping!! Great deal for you younger folks who can walk up that hill!!

And the only way they'd be billed over assnectar and flips would be if they're doing 3 sets, right?
Why would you say that? SCI have been billed higher than BN on any lineup they've shared and they topped FL on the forecastle lineup last year and hangout the year before that even with them doing darkside.
