[Honest question, how many female performers or female-fronted groups could headline a fest like Bonnaroo? I mean I'm thinking you've basically got Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Bjork, Adele...acts like Portishead, MIA, Santigold, etc. aren't big enough, so I think the options are somewhat limited.

I'm still disappointed Bonnaroo didn't have the balls to make Bjork a headliner.
Especially after the Mumford cancellation. You'd think they would just shuffle some things around but maybe there were more logistical issues with that.
Enjoyed this discussion so far. Really interesting statistics. It'll be interesting to see if Bonnaroo tries anything unique for 2014 in terms of headliners but not really expecting it.

I'm looking forward to the show. I was standing next to the cameraman during the "BONNAROOOOOOO!" shot. There was no way I wanted to be seen on camera. I thought wolfmanjess and others did a great job

I mean, I think you pretty much got it + Madonna. But I think it's a bit of a chicken/egg thing. If fests took more chances showcasing women with mainstream/rock audience, there'd be more women on that list in the future.
Fleetwood Mac, Heart, and to a lesser extent Blondie are are all female-fronted bands that were touring this summer that could have found their way into the upper tiers of the Bonnaroo lineup.
