That blew my mind when I read he was that tall. Never really stood out to me that he was that big of a guy.
Snagged this pic of him during Wu Tang just after I met him. He isn't hard to spot as he towers over people.
That's pretty cool. I like seeing artist who enjoy the festivals they get to play at and immerse themselves in it. I remember seeing Jack Black driving a golf cart one day in 2010.
I'm well aware of his drug use. It sucks and I hope he realizes one day that he has a problem and overcomes it before it overcomes him. It doesn't take away from his talent. I don't really want to discuss that any further, addiction is a sore subject for me personally and socially.
I'm not saying I don't feel bad for him sometimes, and know many people even family who have dealt with addiction. I guess his attitude towards it pisses me off and seeing people try to help him then him doing that in front of them just turned me off big time. Anyways, yeah not a big PL fan but we can get back to Roo talk now.
Addiction will do that. It's easy to judge and not understand until you're in it, and trust me when I say it can happen easily to anyone. If addiction came down to stupidity, it wouldn't kill off brilliant minds.
In case we get him, how is Avicii's live show? I watched his set from Tomorrowland 2012 and it seemed decent. But I remember reading that from people who were at his komati Lollapalooza set a few years ago that his sound or something was messed up and it wasn't a very good show.
That lollapalooza show was the only time I saw him.. The set up looked cool but the music he was making was god awful, and I'm not blaming the sound quality.

Well damn. Maybe he would be better at Bonnaroo Lol but I don't how that's possible because in my opinion his music has only gotten worse.

I will second that review from the only time I've seen him.

I started at Avicii but left to see RHCP. Even though I don't like RHCP that much and saw them a month and a half earlier at Bonnaroo and didn't like their performance then. So yeah.... I wasn't digging it.

Lol was he in the pit or just regular crowd? Did people even realize who he was?
He tried to walk into the photo pit and they kicked him out. I get one escort into the area I was in so I got him into my area, thats how we met and he gave me a beer. Then he eventually fell back into the Roll Like A Rockstar area, where the photo was taken of him.
As far as people without instruments go. Pretty lights > All. Now that he has them he, it's unreal, there is nothing that comes close to him IMO in the EDM arena.
I just assumed that by "people without instruments" you were referring to any and all producers of electronic music who rely primarily upon software to compose songs. I assumed that the "nothing comes close to him in the EDM arena" was also referring to the same broad field of producers and artists. I was about to tell you that you're a crazy person for thinking that PL was ">" than artists like Daft Punk, the Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx, Underworld, Burial, Aphex Twin, Four Tet, Disclosure, Actress, Andy Stott, Moderat, the Avalanches, Boards of Canada, Tycho, Todd Terje, Blondes, James Blake, Simian Mobile Disco, Bicep, Shlohmo, Massive Attack, Tricky, Ratatat, Machinedrum, Scuba, Jamie xx, Justice, Lauren Halo, Royksopp, Fuck Buttons, Flume, Classixx, Nico Jaar, Daphni, Bonobo, etc. If you're just talking about Pretty Lights' festival contemporaries then that is a completely defensible opinion.
King of EDM cheese is what I should have said then... and he is that, to me. I know about half of the bands you listed and dig a good amount. I am aware certain sounds can't be repeated and produced live, especially with only 1-2 people. If you have an easy medium of production (the computer) I just expect a little more from your sounds. Similar to what the list of bands you provided, provide. I also have a hard time calling any of the ones I know on there "EDM", but "EM". Even Daft/Basement Jaxx/Chem Bros seem more "EM" to me. Most have a more organic quality to their sound and I think that is why PL has been so successful to my ears.
If you are repeatedly asked to come to Ultra, Tomorroworld, EDC, etc... You might be a EDM "cheese" artist, producer, dj, w/e.
BTW, you guys aren't near upset enough that Eric Prydz is on the spring awakening lineup up and presumably out for Bonnaroo.
Four artists played both fests last year, so while I would agree he is probably less likely, I don't think this necessarily rules him out for Bonnaroo.
Disclosure will be playing at a zoo in Chicago the Wed. of Roo week. Think I might go to that and follow their bus to Bonnaroo. Also for Disclosure to be in Chicago two days before Spring Awakening is a huge miss for them. That zoo is free admission so I'm unsure on if this will even cost money. Was their a cost associated with their Central Park set?
Yeah last summer it was $60 for tnght/disclosure in CP. Amazing show though, mobb deep came out with tnght and Jesse Ware came out with Disclosure. It was epic. So sad I missed them at terminal 5 two weeks back due to illness =(
