I used the headphones 2 nights when I went to sUMmer school this past year, they are amazing.. I highly recommend giving them a try to anyone that hasn't. It is great that it puts you in your own little world and drowns out the annoyingly conversations behind you.

Going by the app schedule leaked today... I'm not sure if I'm more sad they don't have late night or more happy they have no serious conflicts. Mid-day What, and somehow I don't imagine this will be a hard show to get into the pit for.

For sure, pit will be easy, and will be chock full of hardcore fans. Should be fun as hell.
I hope the set time ends up being a decent length.

I will be in that pit fo sho. Can't wait to get my umph on with all you fine people! Now just hoping for some kind of involvement in the mystery superjam.
edit: and good god let this set be longer than 90 mins!!
I'm glad you guys think that the pit will be easy for Umph - if that's the case, then my schedule for Friday is pretty much decided. I was thinking of catching Jake Bugg, but the What pit is where some of the best moments of my life have happened, so the scales may have just tipped in Umph's favor.
A late night set would have been nice for sure but them playing on the main stage will be huge for them, especially with the new album coming out right before that. Expect some new tunes for sure.
If I'm not mistaken this is their first main stage performance at 'roo. I know the last time they played an afternoon set it was on Which because I was there. In light of being in the big field, I think they'll be on top of their game. And I agree with NSL: If they were going to get some kind of LN slot, I'd have to believe 'roo would have announced it by now.
As an addition, I did the couch tour for last Saturday's Umphrey's Bowl, and that got me pretty stoked for their set on the farm! I thought all four quarters were pretty impressive.

Yea, you're probably right. I'm sure they won't get a set, but I don't think a guest appearance at the superjam later that same night is a completely crazy thought(even though I'm still not counting on it lol).

I'm not necessarily expecting a late night surprise Umphrey's show but you could have said this same quote about the Deervana set (Deer Tick covering Nirvana) and the Portugal. The Man parade performance. Those are both pretty unique shows and you'd expect them to be announced ahead of time but they were surprises at the fest.
i have no complaints about them playing during the day, but i just think its really weird. "so yeah i know you guys played a killer 5 hour late night show last time, so we're gonna give you an hour and fifteen minutes at 3:30 in the afternoon this time."

hoping for some sort of late night appearance.
The typical UM pattern at Roo has traditionally been LN set one year, then day set the next time they play, then LN, etc. We are still in that pattern. Everybody assumes Umphreys WANTS to play a LN set for five hours, but maybe they don't. Thats a whole lot of work, and a whole lot of hype to live up to considering their past Roo LN performances. I know those guys are pros and amazing, but their music is hard to play, and they put a lot into it, especially Kris. The reason they always have a "tweener" band at their LN marathon sets is Kris gets so worn out from drumming, he can't play for 5 hours straight.
So while I would imagine a LN set would definitely be exciting for them, they probably also approach it with at least some anxiety.
I'm no musician, but I don't think I'd like to do my job in front of a crowd from 2am until the sun comes up. Unless yall think Bonnaroo would be down with a LN tax return preparation/auditing workpapers/financial statement prep superjam.

i wasnt assuming they would play LN. (my first roo was 2012 when they did) i just think its strange. and like i said, i have no complaints. their first show on the main stage will be awesome. and im sure its exactly what the band was hoping for.
so excited for cosby sweater playing 2 hours as LCD soundsystem will be my first scamp!
I saw that and that will be very sweet. I also wanna see the Motet at that time as well so I am not sure where I will be late night friday.
It is also my first scamp! Excited to see some great live music in a new setting. I hear good things about the fest, so hopefully it is a great weekend.
