Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
For however selfish I am, I agree. FFF is the obvious replacement.
It would be awesome to see you all come down here for one of my favorite fests. Too bad it is not as conveniently located for most the way MOEMS is. They always have a great electronic lineup for FFF as well as punk, metal, hip-hop, indie, and comedy.

My heart goes out to all of you that had such a great time and were looking forward to this festival everyyear. I know that MOEMS had a special place in Inforoo's heart.
I finally made my way into this thread. Took me a bit to gather the courage I also just emailed the DTI to cancel the reso. I'm leaning more towards Bear Creek as my fall replacement, but I suppose I have a while to decide... If the price is right, I might be down for an Asheville panda meet up
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Reservation cancelled
I'm not holding out much hope for the return of this amazing festival. As much as we all hope it would, the wording of the statement wasn't particularly optimistic. I'm doubtful it would suddenly make sense for them to return in 2015 (or beyond).

Yea, usually if they really expect to come back they make it abundantly clear that it's just a break for now and they'll be back the following year. I am thinking they just move on and try new things. Shame.
Maybe I'm just being daft, but isn't the obvious replacement for Mountain Oasis now Moogfest? If that's the kind of lineup you're looking for, it's pretty much the same thing. FunFunFun is extremely different in terms of the lineup and genres.

I think timing is a part of it too. I just looked up Moogfest and it's in April while I think others were trying to find a festival in the Fall. Could be wrong, though.

Based on their bargain basement price slash to $99/ticket, despite a stellar lineup, it appears they're having problems selling tickets also. I doubt it will be around much longer.
I think Asheville is just too inconvenient/expensive a location for most. It's very far from any major airport, which is rare for a non-camping fest.
This isn't a bad idea and it actually wouldn't be out of reach if there was a group serious enough to work on it.
Also, if y'all ever want to venture up to the NC mountains but not necessarily Asheville my husbands family has a house in Beech Mountain, NC that sleeps 10-12 with plenty of other rentals in the same area. It's out of the way but if anyone is ever interested let me know!

Maybe, but Moogfest still exists for the time being. People mourning the loss of Mountain Oasis should just buy a ticket to Moog, since it's more or less the same exact thing, in the same exact place.

Moogfest is just over a month away, unfortunately most of us can't make travel plans on notice that short.
Also, a handful of us are going to Coachella and can't even dream of doing two festivals in one month (myself included).
Losing this festival sucks, and Moogfest existing does not make it suck any less.

This. Adding something at the end of April just isn't going to be happening for me right now. In addition to everything else, the timing of MOEMS was great because it was far enough away from other stuff that it allowed my money and vacation to replenish some before it took another hit. This is why I thought of FFF and Bear Creek first as replacements rather than Moogfest which is the closest in lineup type.
Moems/old moog was never about the lineup for me. They were about the people who attended at that time of year in that location. I don't see any true substitute for that out there at this time.

This. The lineup having some decent stuff on it was just gravy.
I had just been wanting to go back to Asheville, a cool town with a lot of good people around at the same time.
It was pretty even for me... love Asheville, always have, but after that first Moogfest I went to my love grew stronger. Always loved seeing old friends that I don't get to see but once a year if I'm lucky, but most importantly, the lineups were always right up my alley. Personally, my favorite lineups year after year aside from ATP, in the nation.
“The four years that we did (the festivals), they made money one year, broke even another and lost money for two years,” Capps said. He said the lack of a suitable outdoor venue and the size of the indoor venues made it difficult to expand. Mountain Oasis also struggled to find sponsorships, he said.
“I felt like it was becoming more challenging, not less,” to produce the event, the Knoxville-based promoter said. The lack of affordable downtown hotel rooms during October — peak leaf-viewing season — also hurt, he said. Capps said he has no concrete or immediate plans to present another festival here.
